Planned Parenthood - Jean Shehan Health Center

I thought this placed catered to low income women like myself but apparently not. Had an appointment today for birth control pills and since I made my appointment through the website I didn’t actually speak to someone that can tell me about prices cause when I called at 9am it said it’s closed at the moment and to make an appointment online so I did that. They apparently don’t accept my health insurance which is StayWell Medicaid. Anyways, I went and the lady at the counter asked me if I knew about the prices I said no cause I made my appointment online she didn’t even ask what insurance I had to check if it’s accepted while I noticed that she asked that to the women who came next. I get called in and all they did was check my pressure and ask me basic questions no tests no nothing. I was charged $105 just for that.. before paying I calmly and in a very low tone asked that women at the counter why am I being charged that much.. she raised her voice a little. I have social anxiety so I felt like she raised her tone a bit to humiliate me and so that her work peers can hear. She said “they told you the prices before coming in” which no one did so I payed that and left. Then afterwards I went to the pharmacy Where they sent my birth control prescription where they only gave me 3 little packs of birth control and was charged an additional $52 for them. So total $157 for 3 month supply of birth control. I felt so cheated . For a low income women like me with 2 children that had to take uber/bus to get there and back this was way too much. If I would’ve known I was going to be charged that much I would have never went here. This placed should be ashamed.EDIT: I find it weird how they respond with “please direct message us” knowing there’s no way/option to do that and without providing their information so we can contact them directly. There’s no way to private message the person responding to all these negative experiences cause they provide 0 contact information. Thankfully I paid with my debit card so I was able to file a dispute through my bank account. Explained to them that I came here for birth control pills but I was ripped off and charged $105 to have my blood pressure taken and an additional $52 for the pills and they immediately refunded me the $105. Don’t go to this place period.

The front desk was extremely rude, she had a disgusting attitude with me the entire time. I believe she has dark hair and the doctor assistant was also very unprofessional, she was texting on her phone while I was speaking to her and was barely listening to me. The doctor was okay but in a rush, everything was way too fast. I will not be coming back. Get rid of your front desk person and the medical assistant! Horrible service.

I got my IUD here which was painful but the ladies were so kind and so helpful and extremely informative! I had such a good experience that I scheduled my Pap smear, which I’ve avoided for years due to painful experiences. The pap was painless!! The doctor walked me through everything she was doing and was super gentle! This place is great!

I had the single best Obgyn experience at this visit I have ever had in my life. I felt beyond comfortable with the entire staff the offices are pristine and Katerina and Corrine K went above and beyond in making sure I felt comfortable and knew what was going on the whole time for my annual check up. This will be me my permanent Dr going forward. Thank you so much

My name is Krizia, I’m very happy with the level of caring of this place, kindness and professionalism. It was my first visit, needed a preventative check to monitor a few situations I have going on and they made me feel so comfortable since the second I stepped in. Highly recommend this place you can trust them. Corinne is amazing loved her so much!

So unprofessional and disorganized. They ask questions about the patient medical history at the last step of the procedure so they can charge you and refund only what they want in case you cannot take an abortion pill. The medical assistant was going back and forth the room I was to the doctor’s room like a little messenger, that was ridiculous and unprofessional from the doctor. The doctor only spoke with me before I left.Also the wait time was long, I just wasted my time and my money. They offered to have a surgery at an office 15 miles away.I also noticed that when I arrive at the 4th floor and got out of the elevator, one of the two girls at the front desk looked at me and rolled her eyes, while the next patient (a blond caucasian lady) arrived and they received her very well with much more enthusiasm. I wonder if it is because I look Latin?

Where do I start? You have to definitely wait more than usual sometimes as long as 30 min when you are already inside! So mind you its not before you go in, that time is like another 30 min. But everything would have been fine if the treatment was worth it.... it wasnt. I have never seen such a bad questioning in an appointment and bad treatment. They didnt askme when did this problem started or if I was ever treated before... they gave the SAME exact medication for a person that has never suffered from the illness. They didnt treat it like it was chronic at all and they made ME feel bad because I was supposed to do another type of appointment? You dont treat sick people like they committed a crime you dont say you have to make another type of appointment to talk about your illness!!! What they basically gave me was a medication that will solve my problem for a week. They didnt care that I already had the treatment several times and I was already frustrated. They just cared that it was late and they had to go because they were running behid schedule. THIS IS NOT MEDICINE. Its not my fault that you are late when I had to wait 1 hour for this people. Please go somewhere else where they actually care about the appointment and listen to you.

I had Dr. Corine and a nurse from LA who wore sage green shiny acetate glasses (I forgot her name, but she deserves to be mentioned because she was such a breath of fresh air), these two made me feel so comfortable. Dr. Corine was so smart and so positive. She gave me really good advice and a ton of information I hadn’t been aware of before speaking to her. I highly recommend Dr. Corine, I found her very useful and effective. Thank you!

I had the best experience yesterday. This was my first time receiving birth control and I loved how safe I felt since everyone was so friendly. I felt comfortable and was very informed on everything. I definitely recommend.

I have been coming to this location to get my birth control shot for a while now. All the girls that work here are extremely nice and communicative. Very professional also. Special shoutout to Xeila. The only thing I dislike is the parking situation. There’s not enough parking spaces for the whole building and most of them are usually blocked by cones. I go park at the supermarket Fresco y Mas that’s across the street and walk over.

By far the friendliest and caring staff I have ever encountered. They made me feel at ease and comfortable. Waiting time was not an issue. Remember this is not a fast food restaurant people you want to leave in and out right away. All procedures take time and patience. Great job guys, keep doing what you are doing!!!

Second time coming here. First visit went smooth. Second visit: totally unprofessional. I expected a higher level of respect towards patients, but this visit got me thinking otherwise. One of the nurses with an accent gave unnecessary attitude when asked to please repeat a question because I just couldnt understand clearly what she asked. NURSE (yes nurse, there is no actual MD at this place apparently) Kirkland was way too harsh, assumed too much, and called me uneducated, and made me feel worse about myself. She seemed rushed as well and I dont even think she gave me a proper diagnosis. Like is that some way to make a patient feel good? Dont think so. Felt a totally unprofessional vibe this time at this clinic and Im a person that never complains about absolutely NOTHING. Never going back.

I must share my experience which was a great one!Thanks for all the ladies at this office that helped me remove the nexplanon implant. I was so anxious and the nurse did great.Definitely would recommend!

Outstanding service, friendly staff, affordable prices! They make you feel very comfortable. Says who a government subsidized entity cannot provide good service? At first I was hesitant, but I had no choice because I lost my job, and my insurance coverage along with it, thereofre this place was the only place I could afford for an OB/GYN. Im honestly surprised by how outstanding their service is. Im happy my friend told me about this place.

I have came here twice already in hopes that they can help me out financially with my medical expenses since I have no health insurance. I thought that was the main point of planned parenthood but apparently not. On my first visit I had planned to get the implant as a form of birth control. I had done plenty of research and was aware that this method was one of the most costly but I was hoping at least they would offer me a payment plan and they did not. I agreed for the pills. I paid $170 in total. For only 3 months of pills. I have a friend that comes to this same location and she told me they asked her to bring her work paystubs to help out and she pays no money for birth control yet I was not helped out at all. Never once asked what my income was or anything. This is ridiculous and unfair. Went for my second visit today for a UTI and asked again for any financial assistance and lady was not helpful at all and told me she never heard of that. How is it that shes never heard of that if my friend goes there every few months with free birth control? Paid $214 in total for a UTI with only 3 days of antibiotics. I am highly disappointed and unhappy.

Amber is the best! She was my MA she was so genuinely sweet and kind and very knowledgeable. She made me feel so comfortable at my appointment and I look forward to having her again. Amber you rock!

Possibly the best GYN experience Ive ever had. Cant thank these ladies enough - Dayami (BEST) and the rest of the staff - Melanie, Greta (misspelled), Sylvia, Mayra, Iris and Samantha. Thank you ladies. I would recommend anyone to go to them.

Extremely unprofessional. way too harsh while evaluating you. Makes you feel more ashamed than how how you already feel. No doctor has ever speaked to me in a downgrading manner like her. She didn’t even respond to my concerns, I’ve never left a doctors office in so much doubt about everything. Never going back to planned parenthood in coral way.

Ive needed to come in a few times, so let me preface this with the fact that this really was the best option for me. Like every PP, they are discreet and respect patient privacy. The staff are very kind, attentive, and well-intentioned. However—and this is a big deal to me—the staff are not the most informed or up-to-date on contemporary birth control options and practices.I have a background in pharmaceuticals and medical devices, so it was both surprising and frustrating to me how little the nurse practitioners (among other staff, but this is who I expect to actually be informed about these things) knew about the ingredients in different options out there and the different experiences to expect. After a lengthy discussion with one of the NPs, she would not budge on the idea that Mirena and Nexplanon contained estrogen... only conceding that she was wrong when I pulled up a Google search to prove that they didnt.This is only one of many of the gaps in knowledge that surprised me during my visits here. I have to say: DO go to this facility; its a great option for care, filled with many compassionate people—however, do your research beforehand. Dont rely on a consultation from them; just come INFORMED, possibly even with a plan of action. If you dont, you really enter at your own risk.

If I can give this place 0 stars it would be just that! Everytime I come here theres a LONG WAITING process. Worst office to even make a appointment !! I just come to get my birth control renew not even to see a gynecologist and it still takes long. Dont come here ! You will be here for hours waiting ! You will remember my review. Believe me

I had a wonderful experience at this center. The entire staff is caring, sweet, attentive, knowledgable and professional. I was first a little apprehensive about my visit based on some of the reviews I had read on here, but I am pleased to say that I am very happy and satisfied with the service I received.100% recommend this center to everyone.

The staff really cares. I would have given them 5 starts for that. However, it takes 50 minutes something that should be 10 min. Why? No reason, the equipment is not being used, you end up waiting for the staff. Caring staff but very slow.

Very terrible unpleasant experience from the waiting time to be visited by a nurse practitioner that treats you like another animal waiting in line. I was not even informed that no MD or specialist was going to see me. I have wasted my time and Im still recovering from that very unpleasant experience that day.

The most horrible service ive ever expirienced. Waited 45 min for a refill when i always get my refill within 10 min at the kendall office. The receptionist was the most rude person i ever met in my life being so sarcastic i was left in shock.

I had a really nice experience, i was desperate to find someone who could’ve help with my situation and i was a little nervous too, i cannot thank parenthood enough for their genuine and caring help i received.Staff is very patience with questions and explaining any doubts, they really take care of you and listen.Thank you very much

Currently waiting to be seen at this moment. Appointment was at 2:30pm and it is now 5:00pm... still waiting to be seen. Whats the point of having an appointment at this place? Do you value your time? Dont come here

The receptionist is sweet, but the nurse I saw was so rude. I felt judged and uncomfortable.

I had a great experience here; I was just getting some routine testing done and I was in & out within 30 minutes.

Quick updated I went on the 4th of February 2021 and I need to say they are really professional as well as providing an amazing service.

Terrible attention, more than 10 days ago they performed an analysis on me, the result was supposed to be a maximum of 5 days. I have been calling for 4 days and they tell me that they are going to call me back and nothing is like a mockery, a great lack of respect, I do not recommend this center to anyone 😡

It is the worst in Miami, I say the worst in the United States, and I dare say that their work team is less professional than any clinic in Latin America.I dont recommend even passing by the front, their bad attitude towards us patients stinks even outside.
