NY Midtown OBGYN

There is no one I would rather have deliver my babies than Dr. Benedetto. She was my OB for four pregnancies, and every experience with her was amazing. She is incredibly smart, efficient, and just an overall amazing doctor. I can’t recommend her highly enough!

I have seen Dr. Anzai for multiple pregnancies and have had excellent experiences with him specifically and this practice overall. Over the course of about five years, I have seen every doctor at some point and they are all strong practitioners. I feel like I have received truly top notch care, including in difficult situations. My experience here is that while there is not a lot of handholding, the doctors are all clear and direct and can answer any questions in a way that explains their recommendation. They are serious about pursuing a low c-section rate and my delivery experiences have been smooth and very positive. Dr. Anzai in particular is very calm, balanced, and focused in his care, and I would recommend him to anyone. The practice is run efficiently, and the front desk staff is also responsive.

Dr. Benedetto is at the top of her game. My wife and I came to see her with a pregnancy of fraternal twins and had an excellent experience. Dr. Benedetto offered specialized care and guidance through the process and immediately gained our trust. Her professionalism and experience were palpable from the first visit. We also had very positive experiences with doctors Cheon, Sawai and Yang, from the same practice. Overall, the whole practice and team did an outstanding job for which we are very grateful. The value of Dr. Benedetto and her team was especially noticeable when the twins were born. Once again, we received personalized and specialized care of the best level. In additional to Dr. Benedetto, Dr. Cheon and Dr. Sawai also participated in the delivery. They did an amazing job delivering our twins, particularly considering that one of them was breech.My wife and I would never consider going to another practice and cannot recommend Dr. Benedetto enough.

I was initially attracted to this clinic given their close proximity to my home and their high ratings. However, I would caution future patients that most of the 5 star ratings dont have any supporting information and may be inflated through unreliable sources (likely not patients, possibly staff or their family). I deeply regret getting my OB care here. Not only did they schedule my first OB appt at 8 weeks with a doctor who is leaving the practice in 1 week, but their front office team seemed to lack proper OB followup. The office manager, Brandie Hurrell, is also very patronizing, rude, manages the claims poorly and impossible to reach (my health insurance and I have both been trying to contact her repeatedly since they dont see the visit submitted on their systems). While it is complicated by me having Anthem PPO coverage in 2 different states, instead of working with me to process it with instructions given to me by insurance company, she instead was very condescending and makes quips about why dont I know what a deductable is, though my health insurance confirmed that they would cover 100% for prenatal care if she can submit the claim to them. The Anthem local offices from both states have even tried to call her with me on the other line, but she never answers. I lost confidence in their office to handle my care properly. I would not recommend them with time-sensitive OB care and I just hope this helps another pregnant person as it is more difficult to transfer care to another hospital later on your pregnancy. I would also recommend reading those 1-2 star reviews since they give more insight to how this clinic operates.

Dr. Benedetto is a wonderfully knowledgeable and caring physician. I arrive early for my appointments and she often is able to see me early. I love that. In addition, the front office support staff is equally lovely and easy to contact. I’d highly recommend Dr. Benedetto and her practice!

I love Dr. Benedetto. She takes her time to talk to me about the procedures and she made sure to ask me if I have any concerns or questions. She is very welcoming and I feel very comfortable with her.

I had a wonderful experience at this OB/GYN office in Midtown. Dr. Sawai was exceptional—she is not only highly skilled and knowledgeable but also incredibly kind and compassionate. I’m thrilled to have found this practice. Having seen many OB/GYNs, I can confidently say that Dr. Sawai is among the best. The entire office staff is friendly and accommodating, and scheduling appointments is a breeze. I’ll definitely be returning in the future.

Dr. Benedetto is thoughtful, thorough and really cares about the well-being of her patients. She delivered my two children, who are now 16 and 14. She remembers details about my family, my husband and my parents. She was supportive throughout my pregnancy, both deliveries and now that I am older, she has been incredibly helpful in my menopausal years. She listens, truly cares and is straightforward- she is a first rate and I’m so grateful to have her as my OB-GYN.

Doctor Benedetto is one of the best doctors Ive ever had. She delivered both of my children and guided me through my entire motherhood journey, which took several years and involved some trial and error. Her extensive experience and deep care for her patients are evident in everything she does. She consistently goes above and beyond to help her patients and always provides straightforward, honest answers. This approach was incredibly reassuring to me and instilled great confidence in her work.For example, during one of my miscarriages, she came into the office on her day off to perform a D&C, so I wouldnt have to wait until the following week. Her dedication didnt stop there—she also helped me achieve a successful vaginal delivery after my first C-section and was supportive throughout the entire process. Despite having many patients, I always felt like she genuinely cared about me and was there whenever I needed her.Dr. Benedettos direct communication style may not be for everyone, but I appreciate being told the truth by someone with her level of expertise. Her office is well-organized, and they are always accommodating with appointments. Ive never had to wait long for a check-up, and if I called with questions or needed paperwork, they responded promptly. The other doctors in her practice are equally great and supportive.Lastly, Dr. Benedetto delivered both of my babies at Lenox Hill Hospital, a high-quality facility where the level of care has remained excellent both before and after COVID. The nurses and staff were incredibly attentive and professional. I couldnt recommend Dr. Benedetto and her office enough—she is truly the best, and I will always be grateful to her and her team for helping me achieve my motherhood dream and supporting me throughout this journey. There aren’t many doctors like her out there!

Dr. Cheon is the best! I started seeing her back in 2017 and she has gotten be through a hard pregnancy journey. She has always been really great and encouraging, I continue to see her now in 2024 and beyond!

Wonderful practice! I saw Dr Mio Sawa who was friendly, warm, not judgemental, thorough and explained things clearly.The nursing/assistant staff were very friendly, kind and professional too. I had blood taken and an exam, and I felt they respected my body and my privacy very well.Reception staff were professional and quick in processing me as a new patient, processing my insurance and the small out of pocket payment etc.Practice is very clean, spacious, feels cheerful and light.Also, I was able to get an appointment here on relatively short notice, which was a big plus because my problem was time sensitive.Highly recommend!

If anyone can see the same Gynecologist for almost 30 years, I believe they would have to trust them immensely. Dr. Maria Benedetto is knowledgeable caring, supportive and an all around great person. When entering her practice there’s a feeling of comfort. Her staff is friendly and respectful. It’s a pleasure to have her as my doctor.

Dr. Benedetto-Anzai is very thorough. In our first meeting, I was put at ease and knew that I would be in good hands.Whenever I had any issue with my health whether it be pregnancy-related or not, she has not only been there to support me but truly cared to hear back from me, encouraging me to follow-up with the relevant specialists even offering referrals for my concerns.She is no-nonsense and exactly what I needed to handle all my high-risk issues. From the very beginning, she ensured that I was set up for success in managing my weight gain so as to prevent unnecessary complications down the road. Thanks to her, I was able to keep from having gestational diabetes as in a previous pregnancy with another obgyn or having my HBP is fluctuate as in past pregnancies under the care of other obgyns. For the first time in 4 years, upon meeting her, I was given a new medication and dosage was that was perfect for me and didn’t leave me feeling fatigued.Later on, I developed anemia yet she proceeded my condition by prescribing a supplement that has given me new life/renewed energy to alleviate those symptoms.I’m 39 years old; now in my 35th week of pregnancy and on my 4th child— more than four ob gyns later— my experience has been nothing but truly pleasant with her AND her entire staff (from Brandi in the billing dept., Zul and all the ladies in the front desk to all of the nurses and technicians). Dealing with such professionalism all around is a breath of fresh air, and has made such a difference during a time when I am dealing with a lot already. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to receive top-notch treatment.I’m grateful to have found such a treasure of a practice, which was conveniently located to my office. I have also seen other doctors here, in their efforts to accommodate my last-minute schedule change requests, and the appts with both went great as well.I’ve not yet been to the hospital where she delivers; however, knowing how well-connected and a genuinely sincere person she is, I am positive that no matter what my labor & delivery presents, I’ll have the best in care— being under her care.

Third baby now with Dr Benedetto and I wouldnt go anywhere else. She is kind, thorough and experienced. The staff of the practice are all also professional and helpful.

Dr. Anzai delivered my twins 16 years ago. I had to stop seeing him due to a change in health insurance coverage. Now that I’m with a new employer with better health insurance, I was able to see Dr. Anzai again. I was not disappointed. He is still amazing as I remembered.

Dr. Benedetto is the most knowledgeable, professional and compassionate doctor I have ever met. She delivered my son 4 years ago. During my pregnancy I experienced a severe kidney infection that involved hospitalization. She went above and beyond to keep myself and my unborn child safe. During the pandemic, my husband and I moved out of the city and I became pregnant in March 2022. I went to the highest recommended doctor in my county in NJ. After having an absolutely terrible experience there and being told my pregnancy would terminate itself due to a mass in my uterus, I decided to call Dr. Benedetto. Her and her team got me in right away. After she reviewed my ultrasound, she assured me, my baby and myself were completely healthy. Since I lived almost 2 hours away, we had made a plan for an elective induction at 39 weeks. I went into labor before my scheduled induction. It was 4am in the morning and I called the after hour line and spoke to her husband. Within minutes she called me back and told me she would meet me at the hospital. A few short hours later, my beautiful healthy baby girl was born. Both of my labor and deliveries with Dr. Benedetto were a dream and I contribute that to her knowledge and my trust in her. She truly is the best.

I was referred to Dr. Teresa Cheon by a friend of mine and am so glad that she is my OBGYN for multiple reasons:1. Dr. Cheon is extremely professional, amicable, knowledgeable, patient and so much more.- She took the time to explain everything, answer any questions and made you feel human, not just a #.2. You are not a # at this office, rather a human/patient- Nowadays, many of the practices are corporate run and you feel like a # with a herd of patients in the waiting room. I have been to offices like this before and did not like it.- At Dr. Cheons office I was seen on time and the waiting room was not filled with so many patients waiting to be seen.- Dr. Cheon also reaches out to you directly with results of tests and to review any questions we may have.3. Friendly, efficient staff- The team was extremely professional and friendly. From checkin to check out the entire process was smooth and easy.Love going to an office where it is still patient-focused care versus production-focused. I recently had been diagnosed with a missed miscarriage and had to go through a necessary procedure to terminate the pregnancy, though I can’t thank enough to Dr. Yang and Dr. Misawa, who carried it out with a minimal pain and discomfort. They are so very caring and thoughtful. They really made it easy for me to go through it. Dr. Anzai helped me digest this sad news over a few weeks with his usual elegant manner. Nurses are always helpful there, too. It is an amazing clinic and I am ever so grateful for their help.

Been a patient since 2020 here (with baby #1) and currently a patient with baby #2. Also had an ovarian cyst removed in 2021. Dr. Cheon is great - very professional, easy to talk to and ask questions of. The doctor’s team seems to work seamlessly together - Dr. Benedetto was the doctor on call when I went into labor the first time, and Dr. Cheon also came in. They are also easy to reach - doctors call back with answers to questions!

Even the receptionist, I think her name is Ms. Koshika called me a day before to inform me that there was a conference at the UN to avoid street blockades to get there. Highly recommended!

Dr. Cheon delivered my baby. I was quite nervous because my doctor was off, and I didnt know what to expect but Dr. Cheon was excellent. She was informative, kind, and I felt my care was safe in her hands. In particular, she guided me on how to push effectively and talked to me about what was working or not. I wasnt able to have the exact birth experience I wanted, but actually, I feel that she guided me toward making good decisions and made sure me and baby were safe.

Would not trust any other practice for my pregnancy or delivery. I am on my 3rd pregnancy with Dr. Benedetto, and despite moving out of the city, I have stayed with her because I know her track record and that I will be under the best care with her. Could not recommend NY Midtown or Dr. B more!

Dr. Benedtto is all the things. She sets the bar on world class medical expertise AND she fills the hearts of her patients with such genuine care. There just arent words that properly give Dr. B and her team the credit they deserve.

Dr. Sawai is experienced, attentive, and kind. Prior to Dr. Sawai I was a patient of Dr. Cheon, who is also terrific.

Dr. Cheon is a bit of a unicorn in that she takes the time to genuinely get to know and care for her patients. Not only is she an esteemed ivy-educated doctor, but her bedside manner and level of empathy is unparalleled.

Dr. Benedetto is amazing. She’s not going to sugar coat anything about pregnancy or delivery, but she is honest and will tell you what is in your best interest. My daughter ended up being delivered via forceps and I was so thankful for her and her husband, Dr. Anzai. We have since moved away from NYC and she consulted with me during my second pregnancy. I am so thankful to have found her and delivered at NYU Medical Center.

I delivered my first child with Dr.Cheon a few years ago, and Im currently with her for my second pregnancy. She is amazing, Im very glad I found her.

Dr. McClelland helped me achieve a safe and successful VBAC, and I had such a positive experience throughout the entire pregnancy. Before finding this practice, I had searched and talked with several others that all told me I would be a planned C-section. Dr. McClelland is clearly very educated, has great bedside manner, and made it easy to have full confidence in his plans for my pregnancy and delivery. Briefly met each of the other physicians and had positive interactions with all of them as well as the rest of the staff.

First pregnancy. maria benedetto is an amazing doctor. always on time, efficient, confident and clear. everything you would want in a doctor! i know i’m in great hands.

Dr Theresa Cheon is verbally abusive & careless. She snapped at me, refused to explain things & took out her bad days on me. Even the nurses & reception noticed. I was going to leave the practice at 36 wks pregnant but she apologized for being short as “she was stressed out by another patient”. I wanted to give her another chance but at my 37 wk appt, she refused to explain what GBS was & refused to tell me who to call if I went into labor early. I left the practice at 37 wks.She ruined my 36 week sonogram by:1) yelling when I asked for clarification. She said baby looks head down and won’t turn. I asked “what do you mean won’t turn?” She said baby isn’t breeched and won’t turn. I was still confused and asked won’t turn how? She YELLED at me saying the baby isn’t breeched and won’t turn back to being breeched;2) rushing through the sonogram & stating how it wasn’t as interesting as earlier sonograms. The sonogram lasted 2 min & everything was blurry so unclear whether she checked my baby. If she did, she might’ve noticed that my baby had a big head and recommended a c-section (I had to have an emergency c-section)3) refusing to provide sonogram photos & provided them “as a favor” after I said the front desk said I could have photos. It was not difficult to print & my husband wasn’t allowed to come due to the office’s policy; and4) Refusing to tell me who to call if I delivered early. She stated “I will discuss the birth plan with you at the next visit. Come back in 1.5 weeks.” What if I delivered early?! I didn’t have a birth plan. I just wanted to know what number to call!Previously:When I failed the first glucose test, I wanted to know my score. She said she didn’t know it off the top of her head because she had 5 other patients who also failed that week. I asked again as she could’ve look up the info on my chart in front of her, but she didn’t “want to click through 5 screens to find the information.”When she called me about my 3-hr glucose test results, she said I failed one of the four tests and I asked her which one. In an exasperated tone, she said it didnt matter, that I don’t need to know and that I should just watch my diet.She made me skip my 34 week appt because she said I didn’t need to see her and after 36 weeks, pushed my appts from weekly to 1.5 week. COVID has made lives difficult but none of my pregnant friends had their appts canceled nor timelines extended. During this time when I didn’t see her (32-36 weeks), I really needed her as I had a bad rash and the dermatologist suggested I call my OB to ask if taking Benadryl, Allegra or Zyrtec was ok. I sent an email to the office and when Dr Cheon called me back she said I don’t need to email her photos of the rash (the receptionist said I could) and that she didn’t look at them. When I asked if it was ok to take Allegra/Zyrtec, her response was: IF IT WERE A PROBLEM, I WOULDVE TOLD YOU OK?!She got irritated when I asked for more info about the TDAP booster shot for my inlaws, my groin pain, and what GBS positive mean. Instead of explaining what GSB was, she told me to read about it in one of my books but to not read blogs and to stay off blogs in general. I don’t even know what books she was referencing as she never gave me any but also, what kind of advice is that?!Someone who was clearly lazy.After each appt, I always had to ask her to stay to answer 3-5 quick Qs that take 5 min to answer. I ended up asking my pregnant friends to ask their OB since she didn’t offer guidance.These are just a few of the negative experiences with Theresa. It was EXTREMELY stressful to find another OB who would take me on at 37 wks.I hope she changes her ways so that no other patient has to experience this. She brought on so much unnecessary stress (from refusing to explain standard questions, to YELLING at me, to being careless at my physical checkups, causing additional stress, and the amount of tears).

I gave birth almost 2 years ago and my baby was delivered by Dr Benedetto and Anzai- Dr Anzai magically flipped my baby (he was facing up and should be facing down) and that saved me from having a C-sections. Excellent husband and wife team. Dr Spencer Mcclelland was my primary OB and stopped by to see me on the date of my delivery (had to run as it was his daughter’s birthday ) , he didn’t have to be there but I really appreciate the fact that he said hello, also amazed that he apologized to me that one time I waited 5 mins (I’ve never had an MD apologize to me for making me wait!). I had Gestational diabetes during pregnancy and Dr Mcclelland helped me navigate it without needing meds/insulin simply by asking what I eat (again, never had an MD take the time to have me enumerate my diet). Excellent excellent team

Dr. Benedetto was beyond unprofessional during the last few weeks of pregnancy and post-partum. Please stay away from this practice. Failure to communicate, failure to show compassion and care for her patient, failure to provide a professional service, failure to treat her colleagues with respect in front of me.Dr. Benedetto failed to inform me how long I had to remain pregnant or what the plan for birth would be. I only discovered there was a plan for induction when I showed up at the hospital for a routine exam and they told me I was scheduled for surgery the following day. Dr. Benedetto had plenty of opportunities to discuss major surgery or induction with me.I had to have a small procedure during my pregnancy and Dr. Benedetto behaved in a manner unbecoming a physician. She yelled and bullied the nurses and staff in the hospital and in the surgery room. It caused me great anxiety. The idea of her stewarding then like that during my Labor was very stressful.I presented her with my birth plan early on, which initially she approved and then close to the birth of my child told me to completely revise because her partners were not comfortable with it. On the day of delivery all my wishes were ignored by my attending physician. For instance, my child was poked and prodded and cleansed before I saw her. Several minutes passed before I was able to hold my child.On the day of delivery she could not attend and Dr. McClelland attended. He called the nurse to check in on me and scolded me through her cell phone for taking too long. But he failed to ask why we were delayed. We were delayed not because I was causing a delay but because the hospital staff was taking their time going over documents, procedures, etc. Then he scolded me again for talking to my doula. I had to explain I was not asking her for medical advice, I was just scared as this was not the plan. I had no idea I was being induced until the day before, my doctor wasn’t even there, I had never met him.Apparently as I walked in I was in labor, but didn’t know it. I was only allowed a few hours of my own labor before I was forced to induce. I should have been stronger and stood my ground. I felt alone and with no one on my side.Post partum I was clearly suffering from Post Partum Depression. The nurses that came to see me told me. But Dr. Benedetto failed to ask me any questions and instead did two things: 1) “fired me” as her patient because her partner had reported back that I was difficult on the day of delivery. 2) when a few days later I called her with a high fever and clearly mastitis she refused to help me. I cried on the phone and begged her to help me because since it had only been a few days I have not gotten another doctor.I know two other patients of hers and the general consensus is if you don’t mind being mistreated because you want someone who knows her stuff, then go here. She is cold and demonstrated with me a lack of care and basic human compassion. During our routine appointments she was very fast and didn’t explain things in a helpful way. Her husband, Dr. Anzai was the same way. Cold, aloof. One of them said explaining medical things to patients is like asking a mechanic to explain your car. You won’t know what the mechanic is talking about, so why bother (this is a direct quote).

So glad I chose Dr. Anzai a few years ago when I was searching for an OB/GYN. Very professional and caring for his patients.

I was not impressed with front end staff, not even a smile or hello when you walk in to the office.When they ask to leave a urine sample in the bathroom, they do not say nor their written instructions say that you have to label your container and put your name, they just assume you see pencils in the bathroom and figure out yourself. When you call, multiple times they put you on hold. The walls in the building are kinda thin, I could hear some conversations between doctor and another patient in next room. The office doesnt give you an option to see your chart or medical results electronically, they charge you for a copy of medical records.The doctor I saw was Dr Spencer McClelland, MD and he would deserve a 5-star rating, the only thing I was not sure about whether he documented in the chart an emergency phone call I had to make to the office and I had to remind him about that call the next time I saw him, but overall excellent doctor with pleasant personality.This review also comes from comparing my previous experience at Cornell, and definitely I am going back to Cornell next time, not coming back to this office.

1 STAR IS TOO MUCH FOR THAT PLACE! The worst experience ever! They are liars and they dont have any respect for the patients. I made an appointment for today with Doctor Anzai. I went there before the time, waited almost an hour without even knowing that doctor Anzai had left before I came there!!! After waiting long time, someone approached me, informed that doctor Anzai had left and may not be coming back! I told them that this is a difficult situation for me as I need prescription today, one of the receptionists informed that she spoke to the doctor, they will send the prescription to the pharmacy today and assured that I will definitely have my medicine before my travel! Unfortunately, as I didnt know they are liars, I trusted her. I filled lots of forms in Japanese language, as they dont have The English version!! At the evening, I got a phone call, informing that regarding a MISUNDERSTANDING with the doctor, they cannot prescribe my medicine and I need to go another time!!! I said this was not what I promised and I cannot go another time as I am traveling tomorrow abroad! They said there is nothing to do! Please dont go to this terrible place and dont trust what they say!

Horrible experience. Staff is cold and careless. I saw one of their doctors and while he is clearly well educated, his bedside manner is horrible. I was going through the most difficult time of my life and felt extremely rushed and ill informed about everything that was going on. I had a lot of questions and felt as though they were consistently dismissed and poorly answered.

Dr. Benedetto is highly recommended for her genuine care, expertise and professionalism. Genuine human!

Would be crazy to deliver with any other practice. Exceptionally good doctors who are evidence based and provide good, safe care that is based on science and not trendy voodoo. Staff is also very nice and responsive.

I had never had a check-up before, so I went to see Dr. Anzai for the first time. The receptionist was very kind, the consultation time was smooth, and I was able to undergo the examination with great peace of mind. I plan to receive my once-a-year check-up here in the future.

I would like to thank Mr. Anzai for his help. Im not good at tests and had to put up with the pain, but Im really glad I was able to get tested. He took the time to listen to me, and his inspection and follow-up were thorough and reassuring. The staff are also kind, thank you very much.It really feels like the patients are number one priority.

I have always been indebted to Mr. Anzai. The office is clean and the location is great, so you can come to the clinic without feeling nervous. Im glad I have a teacher I can trust nearby.
