Dr. Powell and everyone in her office are absolutely incredible. Nobody cares about how much you know, until they know how much you care, and everyone in this office is a caring, high-level professional.Every time I needed something, had a question, or concern, Dr. Powell and her office always treated me with dignity and respect. They always made sure to answer all of my questions and even took time to ask me if I had any questions in general. They always broke things down in a way I could understand as someone who doesn’t work in healthcare.The delivery was great! Dr. Powell was with us when we delivered at 4:18 in the morning and was a true professional. She knows her stuff and I felt safe, seen, and heard while she was taking care of me in the most vulnerable point in my life of having a baby! She is confident and her cool, calm, and collective demeanor made me feel confident and safe.I like her direct approach and how she is a mentor and teacher to everyone she works with. She’s a team player in the delivery room and seeing everyone work together with her as the leader shows how much she cares not only about her practice, but the future residents, and makes sure to pay it forward as an expert in the field.I can’t recommend Dr. Powell and her team enough.

I read the reviews to see if there were any similar experiences that my daughter endured during her visit there before I made this post, and sure enough, the one star reviews sums it all up. I had to transfer my daughter immediately after her first visit, a few months ago. My daughter is now approaching her second trimester and will be delivering a healthy baby boy. Her experience with Dr. Powell was not what I expected , her exam was aggressive, the forceps were dry and was very uncomfortable for my daughter, which made her squeal in agony, instead of her comforting my daughter, all she said was youre the one that got pregnant. Her concern wasnt real and the visit was rushed. We called to request a copy of her paperwork to give to the new doctor, the receptionist had an attitude and never filled her request. Her new Doctor told her not to worry, theyll get it and indeed they did. I hope whomever is reading this, have a better experience than my daughter did. If you feel something is not sitting well , follow your gut. Zero stars, but I had to select something. This is not my personal opinion, its my personal experience.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Powell’s for almost 10 years and can’t imagine going to anyone else. She has helped me through many health issues, delivered my first baby and spent time encouraging me and listening to me as I was going through a miscarriage. She has never rushed her time with me, has excellent bedside manner, is down to earth and has a way of making difficult situations feel brighter. She is a confident practitioner and it is evident that she enjoys what she does.

Dr. Powell is an amazing doctor. I came to her office for my pregnancy almost 4 years ago after having an unfavorable experience with a different physician. She is knowledgeable, warm, honest, thorough and she genuinely cares for her patients. She ensured that she had a complete understanding of my past medical history and was careful when creating my treatment plan. That pregnancy was high risk with rare complications but Dr. Powell provided an incredible amount of comfort and assurance while being completely transparent with all possible outcomes. We went on to deliver a healthy baby and Ive been a patient of hers every since. Her combination of bedside manner and medical knowledge makes it impossible for me to ever see another doctor. I highly recommend Dr. Powell and her staff.

I had an amazing experience having my obstetric care under Dr. Powell, her midwives, and their support staff. Dr. Powell is super warm, knowledgable, and compassionate and also has a great sense of humor when the moments presented themselves. Her midwives Tina and Lexi, I met with a few times for check ups were also super nice and knowledgable. I had all of my care at the Birmingham office - the office staff was always so welcoming and efficient to schedule appointments. I rarely had to wait longer than 5 minutes in the waiting room and was usually out of my appointment in a total of 30 minutes. When youre going in to frequently for checkups, the wait time made a huge difference as I was used to waiting up to an hour at my previous physicians office before I saw her. Lastly, my delivery with Dr. Powell at Royal Oak Beaumont was great. She was patient, calm, and proficient and made the experience such a smooth one! And the staff at RO Beaumont L&D were excellent to work with. I look forward to working with her again for my next pregnancy.

Dr. Powell and the staff at Comprehensive Women’s Health (Tina, Robin, and Jen) are all wonderful people who really care about their patients. She is the only OBGYN at the office, so the office has an intimate feel. Dr. Powell has a confidence about her that always put my anxious mind at ease when I was going through my pregnancy and childbirth experience. She delivered my healthy baby boy in April and I am so grateful for his safe delivery!

This was my first ever visit to this clinic after transferring from elsewhere that I had been for years and I was ABSOLUTELY impressed this is my first baby and I have personal reservations and Jen and Dr Powell were so sweet and nice and gentle they made me feel as though outside of my two supports I have support in office that is willing to put me at ease. I honestly wish I had known about this nice office awhile ago. It’s so quiet and clean! Plus the front desk is so nice absolutely no rudeness which is refreshing!

I am losing faith in health care, especially in my vulnerable condition as being pregnant. And yes, I am an oral surgery resident who works in health care and understand how the system work. This is just sad.#1 red flag: My very first visit with the office and they actually did not take my old insurance. They told me that they do take my insurance and claimed it. I ended paying $500 out of pocket.I let it go the first red flag because all I care about is the health of my baby. I purchased new insurance to accommodate them. My visit with Dr. Powell has been very short and she doesnt seem to want to know more about me. I fainted during my first trimester and I reported to the office, they did not do anything about it. I had all the horrible symptoms and all they tell me is its normal. No sympathy or offer anything to alleviate my symptoms.They failed to make appropriate appointments for me and I had to go to the hospital to get my anatomy ultrasound instead. The insurance ended up did not pay for it and once again I have to pay out of pocket.I gave them my husbands family medical leave (FML) paperwork in September and was told by the office that they have filed it and faxed it. After multiple attempts, they still have not done it. How can I trust this office anymore?Dr. Powell also broke a news to me that she might not deliver my baby and it will be whoever on call (this information is new). I purposely went out of my way to go to Birmingham to a solo OB office so I can create a connection and bond with my OB. Now I will have a random doctor who I have never met deliver my baby?In October, I told them due to my insurance, I will be giving birth in a different state and therefore, will need to switch OB. I asked them again about the FML paperwork, they totally ignored it and tell me because I will have a new OB, they wont complete the paperwork for me.It took me a long time to write this review, but we soon-to-be mother deserves a better clinic and doctor. Find yourself an OB who truly cares about you and avoid this office.

Love this office! I’ve always received excellent care from Dr. Powell and Dr. Lee! They have previously seen me through two pregnancies/deliveries and now my third. The whole staff is knowledgeable, kind, and caring. Highly recommend!

If I could leave 10 stars I would Dr. Powell is the best DR hands down I love her so much! She is so knowledgeable so kind so patient she delivered my kids and checked on me every step of the way she literally held me in the operating room she never left my side she always calms me down and makes me so comfortable she has a presence of making you feel safe and you’re in great hands! I could write a story on her! Great amazing doctor and staff! 10 out of 10!!

As usual, the staff and Dr Powell are thorough, inviting, and professional! Their expertise and efficiency is paired with the personal aspects of a small practice. Im so grateful for the care I received from Dr Powell through the pregnancy and birth of my two boys, and the care I continue to receive for my annual appointments!

Dr. Powell delivered both of my children. She, Dr. Lee and her staff are very professional and warm. I never waited more than 10 minutes at my appointments and always felt that I was in good hands. I recommend Comprehensive Womens Healthcare to everyone!

This office is so welcoming, from the design, to the furniture, the staff....everything about it was wonderful. Including Dr. Powell - shes awesome! It had been a few years since Id seen her and it was like no time had passed! Shes so personable, easy going, REAL and knows her stuff!!! Im so glad to be back, its like coming home!

I had an instant connection with Dr. Powell. She is warm, informative, and takes her time with you. Even amongst being paged twice for patients in labor, she made sure to make me feel like her focus was completely on me. I can imagine when it comes time for me to have a baby, I will feel completely comfortable in her care.

I’ve being going to Comprehensive Women’s Health for a few years and love it! Dr. Powell always takes time to talk to you and explain anything you have questions about. The office staff is always kind and welcoming. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone!

Don’t come here unless you’re pregnant. Seriously. They don’t spend any time on you and they treat you like a nuisance - especially if you’re young.I’ve been coming here since 2018 and enjoyed seeing Tina until she left. After that, the quality of my appointments were terrible. The final straw for me was when I had an early appointment on Monday morning & forgot to bring a mask with me. I apologized & asked if they had any I could use and the office lady rudely said “nope.” And when I asked if I needed one to be seen she goes “yup.”, without even looking at me. Super rude & what kind of doctor’s office doesn’t have extra masks. Would not recommend this place to anybody.

Dr. Powell, the nurses and receptionists are always friendly, personable and down to earth. They all make you feel comfortable and at ease. Dr. Powell always takes time to listen and discuss concerns and options with you. I would highly recommend Dr. Powell and the staff at the Birmingham location.

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with Dr. Lee and the entire team at Comprehensive Women’s Health. I spent years searching for a Dr. after having a terrible experience elsewhere, and I am just so incredibly thankful that I found Dr. Lee. She is nothing short of AMAZING. Kind, compassionate, thorough, and extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Not only has she guided me throughout my entire pregnancy, but through everything leading up to it as well. If you’re looking for a new Dr., look no further. I would trust her with my life.

Dr. Powell is the best. Shes always so friendly and welcoming. Shes great at putting her patients at ease, listens thoroughly, and goes out of her way to provide the best possible care. I highly recommend her!

I go to Tina Rush (mid wife) at this practice and she delivered our baby last week on July 14, 2020. I can not express how AMAZING this women is. I always feel heard and comfortable every time I see her and feel like I can ask her anything and not be judged. I wanted a medicine free labor and thats exactly what she gave me. It was just her, 1 nurse and my husband. I gave an all natural birth with no medicine didnt even take Tylenol or Motrin after. Her encouragement and presence in the labor room was exactly what I needed and I could not be more happy with how it all went. I will use her for all of my babies if I can!! You can tell by her energy that she truly loves what she does, I would highly recommend her to anyone!!

This was my second visit but first time with Dr.Powell. I had an issue that required me to reschedule and she was available right away for the following week. The office is clean and inviting .She was pleasant & knowledgeable, offering many solutions to my problems that I had not thought about. She let me know if problem persisted she would do an ultra sound just to double check and ease my mind . She was very patient focused .

I am a new patient and excited to have Dr Powell and her team on my side! It was an awesome and calming 1st appt. Everyone in the office was friendly and calm.

Dr. Powell and staff are kind, patient and attentive. Additionally, the office has a warm ambience and is very modern. Doesnt feel at all like you are in a doctors office which is a plus. Everything from the feel of the office to the people is wonderful!

I have been Dr. Powells patient for a few years now. Her and Jen are so awesome, sweet, caring, personable, and makes you comfortable. Im glad to have her as my physician for sure.

I went to this office and the Oxford location. I had been going to Dr. Powell for nearly a decade before getting pregnant, so it was a no-brainer that I would continue my care with her for my pregnancy. I had decided that I wanted to do a natural birth and although it didnt seem to be in her comfort zone, I chose to stay with her. My first labor was very long and everyone on my support team could sense she was starting to get anxious to start intervening, but she held off and I was successful having the labor I wanted.Two years later I am pregnant again and decided to stay with Dr. Powell since the first labor went okay. This time she had a partner, Dr. Lee, who I spoke with and was ensured she was also okay with my plan to birth naturally. When I went into labor, I went into the office around 11 and was advised it was okay to go to the hospital. I stopped at home to grab my things and proceeded there. After having labored at the hospital for just about 4 hours, and at 4cm, Dr. Lee came in and said they wanted to break my water. This didnt make any sense to me, so I declined. Dr. Lee was clearly irritated and threatened if nothing significant happened by the time Dr. Powell was on, then she would break my water. Dr. Powell came to the hospital a few hours later, seemingly irritated herself that I didnt let Dr. Lee break my water, and despite questioning the purpose and clearly not being comfortable , she gave me the impression I had no choice (if youre reading this, YOU DO!) and then proceeded to (what I would consider very aggressively) break my water and strip my membranes. I am not sure if Dr. Lees impression on the situation caused this turn of events and attitude or if Dr. Powell didnt want to have to wait as long with my 2nd, as she did my 1st, but it was an absolutely awful experience that I didnt even realize was so traumatic for me until I became unexpectedly pregnant with my 3rd child and started to rehash those events and all the emotions that came with it. I have truly never felt more violated or out of control over what was happening to my body in my life.I have gone back and forth about whether to write this review, because I dont think Dr. Powell or Dr. Lee are bad doctors. I think for gynecological services and OB services where the plan is to take a more medically-involved path, then this practice is perfectly fine, and maybe even better than others. But if you want full control over your experience and body (outside of emergency situations), want to use a doula, or are planning for a natural birth, I would 110% go somewhere else. I have a lot of regret not listening to my intuition to go somewhere else and, instead, going where I had a relationship. I hope that this review is read by the doctors so they understand how their impatience and lack of respect for a womans bodily autonomy and preferred labor experience can have a lasting emotional effect on their patients. After speaking to others, I have come to find that I am not the only one to experience this with them - Ive heard similar stories from others who attempted a natural/unmedicated birth with their practice.

The staff and Dr. Powell go out of their way to answer questions, give reassurance and most importantly, provide excellent medical care. I have not been seen by Dr. Lee but have heard great things. I am pretty picky with health care providers and I cannot recommend this office enough!

I am halfway through my first pregnancy and have been so happy that I chose Comprehensive Womens Health so far! They have made the whole process easy and comfortable so far, and I love the fact that there are only two doctors that you see the whole time. I definitely recommend.

I have been seeing Dr. Powell for 16 years now. She is very knowledgeable and understanding and cares for her patients and their concerns. By far, one of the best!

My wife and I had a terrible experience here. We originally chose to come here from the raving review but we experienced poor customer service skills. They were very unclear with explanation of procedures and obtaining consent before doing the procedure. We were choosing this practice for prenatal care but decided to switch to a different practice.

Dr. Lee and her staff were hands on and very knowledgeable! Overall, it was a great experience at a new office. Glad I made the change to a more personal practice!

Dr Powell is the kindest!! She is knowledgeable and really listens to your concerns. The office is super clean with a friendly staff!!

Maybe it is just the Oxford clinic but they are too much of a clique and gossip way too much no ethics at all...I am 33 weeks along and was told by Wendy the medical assistant if I didn’t have a full payment of 180 in by the next day I would need to go somewhere else mind you this is a bill that I was paying on I understand staff needing to do their job but I think that stereotyping or whatever the reason is for their decisions are not professional at all imagine being 33 weeks along and the day before your appointment being told you need to go somewhere else when I had Already discussed payments with Maryann prior all they do is sit around and gossip about people not paying their bills on time and the doctors let it be okay....I asked to speak with my doctors which is dr lee and dr Powell for 3 days and kept getting the runaround on why they wouldn’t call me back to discuss the situation so then I was forced to switch doctors and hospital at the last minute
