Our experience started out great as both of my boys had there yearly checkups and the PA that we saw was wonderful however my youngest son needed to provide a urine sample and couldn’t at the time of the appointment. So they sent us home with all of the necessary equipment but when I went back on a Friday to give them the sample they were closed. I don’t blame them for that. It is my responsibility to look up the hours before attempting to go in. I gave them a call today to let them know what had happened and asked if it would be easier to just come in and provide the sample or to get the supplies and return home to do it again. It went to voicemail immediately and I left a message. They called back about a hour and a half later. They let me know that dropping by would be fine and I let them know that I would be there within the hour. When walking into the practice about 15 minutes later there was a note on the counter asking us to take a seat and they would be with us shortly. We sat down and waited. As I was waiting I saw a women in the middle office(it is all glass). After about 5 minutes of waiting I see her get up , make eye contact with me and then proceed to walk in the back. She returned to her office again making eye contact with me. She sat back down at her desk and I didn’t see her again. Now about 15 minutes have gone by and I have not had anyone greet us. I could hear them in the back and the lady that saw me has also not come out of her office again. At this point I am getting irritated because my son is there for a urine sample and has to use the restroom. After about 5 more minutes go by I stand up to peak into her office and I see her sitting there with her cell phone on her hands. I am infuriated at this pint and just walk out. As I return to my truck I call the office and it goes straight to voicemail and I leave a message. This was at about 12:30pm today and it is now 7:30pm. I still have not yet heard back from them. Needless to say. We will not be returning due to terrible customer service which is sad because I really appreciated PA Brumagin.

I can’t say enough about this place, and that says a lot because I’m super picky. Craig is the best medical provider we’ve had since we moved to AK (10 years ago). We had a family practice doc that I loved in MT and I never thought we’d be able to replace him but Craig has absolutely met and 100% surpassed every expectation. We pulled all 3 of our kids from their pediatric practices too, because Craig genuinely cares for our whole family way beyond what you would expect from your healthcare provider. This practice is the epitome of what family health care should be. They remember you, your family members, important events, etc. I never feel like he’s rushing to get to the next person. In fact, sometimes I’m shocked at the amount of time spent in the room with us. And especially shocked that I never have to wait for him very long, considering he gives such good care. You and your entire family are in great hands with the staff at Heritage!

We’ve been going to Heritage Family Medicine for almost 10 years now. I was a little panicked that my pediatrician was leaving state and I would have to find a new doctor. Dr. Salhstrom was one of the doctors my pediatrician was referring patients to. He’s seen all of my kids since they were babies and toddlers, he’s helped me with health issues that rose up, and he’s very easy to work with if you have no insurance (which is always a plus for me!) I do have insurance now, which is great but I did not for the first few years. I love how you can always get a hold of him and talk to him personally if needed. Additionally, I was a little nervous when PA Craig got hired on, new providers always make me nervous, but Craig is fantastic as well! Everyone from the reception staff to the med assistants are wonderful.

This office is incredible! The entire team, from front desk to the doctors, are friendly and so caring. When my family moved to Alaska we searched for a new doctor for our kids and we ended up finding a home at Heritage Family Practice.Craig takes care of our family. He has been not only an amazing healthcare provider for our family, but has truly become a friend to our family.I feel like we took a step back in history with this family practice. This office reminds me of what I had growing up where you’re entire family is taken care by the same medical staff and there is so much care and love involved.Highly recommend Heritage Family if you’re looking for a new doctor in the Valley or even Eagle River. They are worth the drive into they Valley!!

Craig Brumagin, PA-C and the whole team @ Heritage Family Medicine have been truly amazing! We have been there for everything from sports physicals and sick kiddos to stitches and emergency visits. While we are at our appointments Craig has been wonderful in letting my kids tell him all about their interests and he is genuinely interested in what they are working on. It means show much to our family that Craig has shown such care for our family. We will never go anywhere else for medical care.

All staff extremely knowledgeable and professional. Dr Sahlstrom maintains a perfect balance of western medical wisdom, alternative health options if applicable amid a caring and professional outlook…dotted with good-natured humor. My husband and I hope to be able to keep Heritage Family Medicine as our primary provider. Forever!

Dr. Sahlstrom and I work together as a team, enabling me to get the care I need and desire. He has enabled me to get off my insulin injections, and reduce the number of prescriptions I take. He allows me to make decisions about my health/care, and as a result of our collaboration, I believe I am in the best condition Ive seen in years. His office staff works as part of the team as well. I truly look forward to and enjoy my visits to Heritage Family Medicine.

I have been going to Heritage Family Medicine for years and have had very positive experiences every time. The receptionist, nurses, Craig, and Dr. Sahlstrom have all been very friendly, caring, and helpful. They are willing to take the time to answer questions in a way that is clear and understandable. Last year, by seeing me on short notice, Dr. Sahlstroms diagnosis and treatment saved me from a very dangerous situation that would have included a stay in the hospital.

Heritage stays true to its name! The highest quality of care in the state and a passion for people! Dr. Sahlstrom and his team have a history of providing top-notch healthcare and making sure that you are heard and listened to. Professional and hard-working, Dr. Sahlstrom keeps your family healthy and understands and educates you through all situations. With Heritage, youre not just a name on a piece of paper, you truly feel a part of the family! I cannot recommend them enough. Ive taken awhile to think about my experience at this facility but over all I was highly disappointed. I didnt see a doctor I saw a PA, which isnt an issue to me. The first time I went I had good insurance was offered blood work, really felt taken care of. The next time I went I had different insurance and the attitude changed completely. I asked about the blood tests and was told my insurance wouldnt want to cover them now. Ok no big deal. I also had a complaint. I had a bump on my finger that seemingly came out of no where. I found this concerning. I was told not to worry about it. I thought that was a weird thing to tell a concerned patient but I blew it off. Fast forward I have had continued problems with my hands. I am not being referred to a specialist. (Via a different practice all together) turns out that bump very well may have been a sign of something serious and I was blown off. Take this all as you will. It was my ultimate impression that they were willing to help.me if I had a good insurance that would pay them well. If not they wanted nothing to do with me. If you want a good doctor who cares and will relate to you look elsewhere.

Dont go to Dr sahlstrom, Everytime we had an issue Dr sahlstrom just prescribed higher doses of medication, until we ended up going to Providence emergency room and they said that it was the high doses of medication that were cousing the problem, Providence took one medication away and said to take half the dose of the other, after that the problem was fixed, they said that the amount that was prescribed would have caused permanent brain damage. All that to say theyre lucky Im not sueing, hopefully someone will see this and go to a different doctor

Ive been a patient of Dr. Sahlstroms for two years and have had a very positive experience from the Doctor and his staff. They were particularly helpful in getting my Covid-19 vaccination.

This office is just wonderful. Craig does a great job with my 7 and 9 year old. Not an easy task. He listens to my concern and very personable. I sooo appreciate everyone in the office!!!

Wonderful Atmosphere, beautiful and very clean environment and we feel soo taken care of during every appointment! I have moved both kids and husband here! Couldnt ask for anything better, knowing that everyone in this building truly wants my family to feel safe, happy and taken care of.

I’ve been to many other doctors and had my problems put aside, but I feel like my voice is really heard and my problems really do matter to the staff. Dr. Sahlstrom has helped me find an answer and solution to my medical health!

Everyone at Heritage have been really great. Theyre all very friendly and helpful. Theyre usually able to get me in on short notice, and the teledoc system works well.

A broad knowledge base of medical matters and attention to detail go a long ways in the effort to provide high quality medical care, and thats what you want when you are sick or hurting. Thats why I keep going back to Heritage for my care, because I dont think I could do better anywhere else.
