Planned Parenthood - North Tampa Health Center

I had a TERRIBLE experience trying to get birth control at both Planned Parenthoods in the Tampa area. I couldn’t book appointments online, just by calling. However, either no one answers the phone, or they put you on hold forever.After trying SO many times to get through, I was told they couldn’t mail my medication, but that I could pick it up at the Tampa office for free. I took off of work and drove almost an hour, only to be told I had to pay for it. They later agreed to let me pick it up at the North Tampa office, which was closer. Again, I took off of work and drove there, but they said all of the medication in my brand was expired. So, I was off of birth control for a month until moving back to Washington, where the process is extremely easy.They are unprofessional, inaccurate, and have no problem completely wasting your time.

Absolutely wonderful staff. The office was super busy and the doctor was a few hours behind but the staff cares, you can see that. It makes the long wait worth it. Now, if only we could get the rights to our own bodies back from the rich white Republican men, Id be happier! People, please go vote!

This place was amazing from start to finish! They helped me out so much throughout my whole entire process of what I had to go through (which I was super nervous about) and I couldn’t thank them enough! Marylou at the front desk, Carolyn & Maria the nurses that helped me were amazing! They were all very comforting, sweet, and understanding! I can’t really remember the other names but just know you are in great hands at this location and you are all very much appreciated. Service was great and the facility was clean!

This place was so professional and clean, the staff were very nice and informative. The ladies that help ( Yamila, Jess & Dr. Fanarjian) were absolutely phenomenal. If you need any prenatal care or things of the sort. I would highly recommend this facility! Whether you’re single or going as a couple, they really are awesome!

PS- I barely waited at all to be seen. Super fast service and all my questions were answered in a way that was easy to understand. I have ZERO complaints. The best experience ever.

I was seen 1hr after my appt time. Once I made it to the back the nurse Rosemary was super sweet, assuring, made me feel comfortable. The hospitality was top tier. Offered food, drinks, heating pad and other assistances. I’m satisfied.

Planned Parenthood was truly a great experience. All the employees were kind and attentive. I felt cared for and safe.

Came here twice within the same week. For my first visit, it was really nice. Front staff was amazing. All staff I seen that day was amazing except one of the lady in the ultrasound room. Shes the One who seems to always be in there who Im guessing is the main lady who over sees the ultrasound but doesnt do them. Its not that she was mean or anything. I just think the job is just a job for her and she doesnt really care much for anything.Second day was not so great coming back. I had to do blood work, the lady who did so had a hard time drawing my blood. I had never had a problem with my blood being drawn till that day. And for some reason we didnt have to anymore.... good for her I guess. After that I had another ultrasound. Same lady was there, same vibe again. But the lady who did the ultrasound was a different lady from my last. They never left the room this time for me to get undress. Again.... never have I ever experienced that. Normally the nurses leave the room anytime you ever have to get undress however that did not happen. Super uncomfortable.Over all facility was nice and clean!

I went to this office to do a complex gyno procedure (non abortion related) I really liked the physician Dr Slackman and the nurses, they had very good bedside manner. I also liked the receptionist, she was a sweetheart as well. Please be prepared for long wait times…. That’s my only problem with the clinic was the wait times despite the appointment being scheduled. But overall their customer service was great.

This place extremely helpful. I conceived with my tubes tide and the people at this location were extremely informative, helpful, professional, and kind! I highly recommend this location. Thank you

10/10 would recommend this location for any service. This location is very clean. The staff was phenomenal, Shaneice at the front desk is “FANTASTIC” good spirits making me feel welcome, to the compassionate nurses who constantly made sure I was okay offered me a heating pad, a blanket, snacks, water & juice. I would also like to give my nurse Lorri & operating team who went above and beyond for me, you all made me feel very safe and comfortable. I would recommend coming here to everyone.

The nurses here are either severely uneducated, or liars. Or get kickbacks off certain birth control methods. I went in to find a birth control that was right for me. I was worried about certain side effects because I’ve had non-serious side effects with certain birth controls before. The nurse I spoke to confidently told me to get a specific IUD because it only had a “localized effect in the uterus”, therefore I would not have side effects like acne etc. That is a flat out lie.After 6 months of depression, hormonal cystic acne, brain fog, and hair loss, trying to understand what was wrong with me, not knowing that it was my birth control the whole time- I went to see an OBGYN for a routine check up. I am a healthy young person with no health conditions and I have never experienced depression before. I told them that the woman at planned parenthood told me that side effects happen but ride it out because they “go away” and she told me to take the birth control out. My symptoms for the most part subsided.These doctors clearly do not care about the women who come in because I now understand that hormonal birth control has significant effects on your brain and synthetic hormones that flow into your entire body- it’s unnatural. I had never had this experience with a birth control (to this extent) I was just going with her recommendation based off of my medical history and assurance that I wouldn’t have systemic side effects or acne. Not only will I never go to PP again after this, but I will always do my own research so that I can make an informed decision on what I am putting into my body, because these doctors and nurses never tell you the full story. They don’t really care about you. It’s your health and everyone should be able to make an informed decision. Hormonal birth control changes your brain and although you may have had no issues in the past, you never know when/how it will affect you in the future. Sadly we cannot trust a medical professional- never do unless you have experience with them.

I simply do not have enough words to describe how completely appropriative I am for this amazing facility. From my very first appointment to the day of my in clinic procedure I have felt respected and treated kindly the entire staff is amazing the center is welcoming and very clean. All the nurses were able provide me with clear and accurate information. To say my experience was good is an understatement my experience here was exceptional exceeded all of my expectations and I would highly recommend. And as if they were not already wondrous enough I was gifted a care package ❤️

I live in Saint Petersburg, however I will be returning to this location for any of my future needs. 10/10 would recommend this location for any service. This location is very clean. This place is a joke. Go anywhere but here. You’ll wait for 4 hours for a consultation, of those 4 hours you’re seen for a total of 5 minutes. The staff take their sweet time and have no answers as to WHY you’re waiting so long. They’ll make you pay when you first get there so you’re stuck and can’t walk out and go see someone else. If you value your time don’t come cause these people sure don’t. -1000/10Update:Came back and once again over 30 minutes just to get checked in! Every time I come here I am amazed and not in a good way!! First thing when I walk in “the systems are down” , as if there is not a procedure for check in when the systems are not working? Is getting a new system since this was an issue last time I came not an option? What type of poor management skills does it take to run an establishment like this? Why is there never urgency in this place? Why did my last visit take 4 hours if I was only seen for 5 minutes?? Ladies go anywhere but this place for your personal care needs. This place is not it. My appointment was an hour ago and I’m still sitting in this waiting room. I can’t imagine the purpose behind setting appointments esp when the girl before me appointment time on the sheet said 10 minutes ahead of mine. How are you setting appointments so close together when you can’t even see your patients within an hour of the time you agreed upon??I just want to make sure any ladies who choose this as their facility for care know you are running a risk of not getting the pain meds that should be prescribed for your procedure so when you go home thinking your script was sent to the pharmacy by your house it won’t be and you’ll call for hours to get it sent because you know this is going to be excruciatingly painful but they won’t ever send it till the next day and you’ll be laying there all night in excruciating pain with not so much as a 800 mg ibuprofen. This place gave me quite literally the most traumatic experience I have ever had at a doctors office. Don’t trust these people.

Have been at this office waiting with my daughter since 12:40 pm for a 1 oclock appointment... its Now almost 4:40. And itll be another 30 minutes or more...So Yeah, 4+ hours waiting for a consultation. Very poor time management. Short staff... stacking appointments. Whatever it is. Not good.

I want to thank everyone at this place for supporting my boyfriend and I through one of the most trying times of our lives. They all come from places of comfort, nonjudgment and understanding and that definitely made up for the long wait times. They supported us through every step of our situation. Because the staff here are so compassionate, Planned Parenthood has found a new supporter in me! 🥳😁

EDIT TO RESPOND TO THEIR RESPONSE. I’ve been on the phone with my insurance company 3 times and they stated it is a covered service, they have called you multiple times and told you TO BILL THEM AND YOU REFUSE SO THEY ARE INVESTIGATING NOW.Fraud! their billing office never answers the phone it goes to voicemail. Currently filing a complaint and my insurance is investigating as they have billed me $650 as a self pay patient when I had insurance and refuse to refund me. Some woman from a BLOCKED number called and said she was from their revenue team and that my insurance stated it wasn’t covered which was a LIE. They actually could’ve billed pharmacy or medical and it would’ve been covered. Stay away!!

They were very kind throughout my whole process. Very grateful.

Keeps canceling and moving my appointment. Already had to wait 4 weeks just for a consult and they have moved my appointment twice since the consult. The wait was about 4 hours when I had a 12:30 appointment.Extremely annoyed and let down considering I’ve already paid for service that’s keeps getting put off.

Dr nicole faranjian is evil. I told her that she was hurting me and it was not normal, not like before, and not what the paperwork said would happen, and she gaslighted me and said I was wrong, instead of pausing or stopping. I was sceaming in pain and she would not listen. I waited 8 hours for an appointment here and the doctor only spent 2 minutes on the procedure and butchered my body. She did not handle me with care or patience and treated me like cattle that doesnt feel pain. When i asked the nurse why some doctors do things slowly and patiently, FOLLOWING THE WRITTEN PROCEDURE, and others do it differently, she said each doctor can choose to do it however they want to. So she CHOSE to hurt me and do it the most painful way possible when she didnt have to, just to save time and make more money. It is unacceptable, her credentials should be revoked. Now Im concerned my body is damaged. I hope someone does to her body what she did to mine.

I can’t say enough great things about the nurses here . So supportive and comforting. Lorri and Maria you guys were absolute sweethearts and Dr. Slackman handled the nervous, dry , funny experience I shared that was probably not so funny but it was my attempt at easing my own nerves. He was so kind and gentle. I can’t thank you guys enough for making a not so great experience ( due to the nature of it ) great because you were there to support me . Thank you for everything.

The staff at this center helped me have the best possible experience for my unfortunate circumstance. They were welcoming, compassionate, willing to help, & made me feel comfortable and very well cared for. The facility itself is very clean, everyone seemed to follow good sanitation protocol and has a pleasant and relaxing ambiance. Nurse Yamila, the educator Ryan, and Fabiola especially stood out. Thank you for helping me through what seemed like an impossible hurdle.

Amazing staff! Lorri is the sweetest and makes sure you feel totally comfortable the whole time, same as the doctor she is great. Honestly all of them are super nice I recommend this place for anyone

Worst experience ever. No compassion, no respect for people. They just want the money and then let you wait for hours. If your appointment is at 11, be ready to only see a doctor two hours later. I came in with my boyfriend and they told him to wait outside because it was too packed. Although everyone else in here had someone with them. Later they let someone’s significant other in and when i asked if my boyfriend could finally come in after waiting for over an hour, they just kicked all the visitors out because I had said something. While I’m waiting to still be seen, the nurses are getting lunch. Honestly, really thought it would be a nice place, but they DONT CARE. 0/10. Really disappointed.

I absolutely love this facility! I drive over an hour to specifically receive care from the loving and caring staff! Yamila is my soul sister her charisma is amazing ! And Lory is beautiful on the inside and out! Thank you all for making a hard situation and beautiful experience!

Our initial visit and during our appointment, all the staff is extremely rude. Also whatever your appointment time is be prepared to wait minimum 2 hours after that before you get called. This is a place where, more than a lot of other jobs, the staff should be compassionate and nicer to their customers but instead you get a rude staff with nasty attitudes who take their sweet a** time because they don’t care about you.

Worst experience I’ve ever had. Unprofessional and don’t care about what anyone is going through. Take 4 hours to even call you back after you’ve arrived for your appointment. Terrible terrible experience.

Communication sucks, I made an appointment wanting to use my insurance. I called multiple times to verify if my insurance would be accepted, nobody had a proper answer but yes, we take Atena. I get to my appointment they tell me, they do not take my insurance. Why, make me come to the office and wait one week. So I can find out that your charging me $300 for the visit and not taking my insurance. I had to reschedule another appointment; so I would have the money on hand and be seen by a doctor .They wasted my time from work. If these people would have been honest all of this could have been easily avoided. Yes, they are nice but being nice has nothing to do with playing with my services, my time and money.

I called TWICE, waited for at least 30 minutes on hold, both times got a VERY RUDE man, he sounds like a young African American male. He hung up on me TWICE, after trying to ask if my child coming in for T-hormones is an easier process before or after he turns 18. TWICE !!**UPDATE**Someone from PP contacted me after this review & have been WONDERFUL & HELPFUL since then. We have been getting the care we need & my child is very happy with the care theyve gotten from them. Thank you!

Worse place! I highly do not recommend! I’ve waited 4 hours total. I was seen once they sent me back to the lobby and waited longer! This place close at 3 pm on fridays why over load a full schedule? Also this is a two day process so two appointments are scheduled, it makes no sense when you can get everything done the same day! I waited so long both days! This is beyond ridiculous.

I went to this location to have a surgical abortion done. Staff was extremely kind, caring and listened to my concerns. Education staff was incredible and made me feel so much more at ease with the emotional stress I was feeling. Both nurses, doctor and recovery staff were extremely kind and made the whole experience a breeze! I cannot thank them enough for making what could have been a very traumatic experience much more bearable. :)

Wow! Just wow! Never have I had such an amazing experience at a health clinic! The women there were ABSOLUTELY wonderful and so supportive! With such a major decision they really kept the atmosphere positive and great. I really do appreciate the level of kindness, care, understanding and support I recieved here. Definitely will go back to them if I ever need to in the future. Thank yall so much for being genuinely amazing people!

While I am not the patient, I was providing the transportation for someone for a very simple procedure. The appointment was scheduled for 11a, however the patient was not called back to a room until 2.5 hours later! It is now 5 hours after her scheduled appointment and I am still sitting in the parking lot waiting! This is wrong on so many levels!!! If the patient had gone to a legit MD office we’d have been done in 1 hour MAX! This place is ridiculous!!!

The staff at this location are absolutely fabulous! I was very anxious going in and Makayla at the front desk was amazing, she made me feel very comfortable. My educator Tiffani did an outstanding job at helping me feel at ease during this process as well and made sure to give me all the information possible. Ladies, this is the place to go!

Nurses: Lory and Yamila were awesome. They were very sweet and patient with me and answered all my questions.Dr.Slackmam was fantastic and Sweet.He made sure he let me know what he was doing before he did anything. And was very fast .Thank You So Much :)

Nurse Jessie, Nurse Cheryl, Dr.Prabhakaran were absolutely amazing, patient and very informative made sure I was comfortable the entire time the front desk staff were very helpful and nice as well. Clinic was very clean so that was a plus as well.

Clean environment. All staff was friendly welcoming and understanding of any of your needs. I felt safe and protected and they explained everything in great detail when needed. I felt no pressure or judgment for my visit. It was calm setting. But bring sweater its chilly in there.

Ive been to a few PP locations in the past and Tampa has been my life saver. Orlando had no availability so I had to go to Tampa for the consultation and the treatment and they have the nicest staff, no protestors and no judgement. They are friendly and accommodating and make you very comfortable.

If you want to waste your time and money, come see these useless people. Never get the implant contraceptive if you have any issues they wont be able to help. Im still stuck with mine. They had me go to get an x-ray to figure out, a waste of time and money. They had to send me to the Tampa office for professional help. Nobody knows what they are doing. They already knew they couldnt help but they kept giving me useless appointments. Its been 4 months of being sent from one place to another and Im still bleeding my way from place to place.

I went here for an appointment I mean I love pp already but this was my first time at this location. They were VERY nice also very UNDERSTANDING & PROFESSIONAL. They made me feel comfortable. Planned parenthood hires good ppl and my appointment reflected that. I would rate their physician a 20 ⭐️ Rating she was beyond amazing. If you thinking about going here save ur self sometime don’t second guess this is the one! Thank you ladies from the front desk to the back door ❤️

This Planned Parenthood location is the best. The staff provides an excellent experience. Lobina in the front desk was very welcoming. Stephanie in the ultrasound and Marielys provide excellent orientation. Yamila and Corey are excellent nurses and very professional. They were thorough and understanding, explained the process very clearly and helped me throughout. With Dr Rapkin you are in good hands. This team gave me support and made me feel safe.

I’m going to share some personal information because I hope this helps someone else during a difficult time of miscarriage. My husband and I suffered a miscarriage a few days ago and needed assistance with tissue and fetus removal. As some of you know, that may not happen naturally. This wonderful staff was kind, courteous and very helpful during my time at the facility. It was such a difficult time in me and my husband’s life, as this was our first pregnancy and very much wanted. I am very grateful for their discretion and the way they handled our delicate situation. The visit took no more then 3-4 hours and the procedure as little as 5-10 mins. The pain and discomfort was very mild. They checked on me constantly and someone was always there to make sure I was okay. I chose to go to them because at my regular OBGYN, my only options were to take at home pills, which would have been to much for me mentally and physically. Or to be put under anesthesia, which I’m terrified of. I thought there was no where else to turn and I looked up Planned Parenthood as they offer many services and was hoping they had something less Invasive. Where I didn’t have to go through it alone and it would be quick and efficient. They did, thank the lord. Here at Planned Parenthood, I had the option of an in patient surgical procedure, while being awake under mild sedation. My insurance did not cover it but in all, it was definitely the best decision for me. My husband and I can now start the healing process and began to move forward during this difficult time in our lives. I want to thank all the staff members, nurses and doctors for just being their for me, during a time, that is unbearable at times. If you’re someone dealing with a similar situation and are afraid of being put under with anesthesia or taking home pills, this may be a good option for you. I know it was for me.

I love how I was greeted everything was quick the ladies that were there for me really made me feel comfortable and I didn’t feel judged like I thought I would just because I was everywhere I was nervous, scared, happy, and my stomach was just giving me a hard time but they made me feel safe and secure that what I was doing was the right choice. I’m so glad they were my nurses and I’m thankful I met that at that moment. Thank you so much Lorrina, Yamlica, and Meliza you guys made sure I was good and checked on me every moment until it was time for me to go.

I went in super nervous and sick to my stomach. Ang definitely made it more comfortable for me and kinda made me not feel so alone. She’s truly a great person, very personable and made it feel like I was just talking to a friend. Happy you guys have her, happy our paths crossed so I could meet her. There’s always good in every situation.

If your coming here, clear your whole day. Theres no time frame..4 hours the first visit and going on 3 hours the second visit.Hope to never have to come here again just for that fact.

I had a great experience here, the staff was super nice and friendly and made me feel very comfortable. I had nurses Ana and meliza they were the best ladies to have by my side I couldnt have asked for a better service!!

Worst experience ever. Had to come back a second day because they spelt my name wrong on documents I signed making me miss over an hour of work. Then when I come back for my final visit I’ve been waiting for an hour which I was told would be a 10 min appointment. I have other responsibilities and not time to waste. Staff was rude told me there was nothing they could do about it and I was only here to take a pill.

My only visit here was last year and it was good they answered all my questions and were very helpful. Unfortunately now that I need to renew my prescription I can’t get ahold of them by phone, I wait on hold until about 10 minutes in when it redirects me to an unused number and hangs up. I recommend booking online not sure what’s going on but they need a new voicemail set up.

Incredible organization! Mary and Jesse were so kind and helpful. They offer tons of great services in an open minded and stress free atmosphere. We Love Planned Parenthood!

Went in to turn in paperwork for the HPV vaccine, they said they would fax over the paperwork and call me to make an appointment. They never called me to let me know whether or not the paperwork was approved or to make an appointment. I called several times and was unable to get anyone on the phone. This was my first experience with PP and I’m sad to say it was a negative one and makes me question whether I should recommend PP to anyone for any of their services given they can’t do something as simple as a follow up phone call.

I remember when Planned Parenthood used to be donation-based years and years ago. Now, it’s outrageously expensive. I went for the Depo shot and they want $80 every three months for it? $80 a shot! The health department only charges $25 per three months/shot. Planned Parenthood wants almost 3 times that amount! No thank you.It’s a good thing they still do Pregnancy terminations because no one can afford their birth control.

Everyone there was very sweet and caring. They never made me feel uncomfortable and made sure all my questions were answered. I was in a very high stress situation and they helped tremendously.

I came before my appointment and still waited over an hour after my appointment to be seen. If you come here, be prepared to wait an unreasonably long time because they are unable to effectively manage their schedule and value your time.

The office personal is amazing. Sarelle, Mariah were the two most helpful woman I have cam in contact with in a long time.

Friendly staff, clean facility. Everyone is very knowledgeable & they make you feel extremely comfortable as well.

Birth control pills are only $26, without insurance. Staff is knowledgeable and discreet. I spoke with Kisany, she was very helpful.
