Advanced Gynecology of Reno Dr. Kenneth Poppen

The most thorough visit i have experienced with ANY provider in the Reno/Sparks area. Dr. Poppin took the time to answer all of my questions without making me feel rushed, while educating me on all the topics that we went over. His front office staff were also very warm and welcoming. I am very happy to have found him and am so grateful at how quickly they were able to get me in as a new patient!

I don’t know why this pops up under my husband but my name is Nichole Pearce.Dr. Poppens exceeds all expectations. I had been in the ER and had quite an issue. Needless to say I was terrified. I had an awful experience with my previous Gyno and no I had to find a new one and have surgery. Dr. Poppen (as well as his incredible staff) made me feel comfortable, safe and genuinely cared for. I was in tears, pain and again, fear; he made sure he explained everything that would happen (more than once), answered and re-answered every single question and worked hard (I was not easily calmed) to allocate my fears. Myself and my two twenty something daughters now have been with him going on two years. I think him and his staff are absolutely number 1 in the Reno/Sparks area. Hands down.

Dr Poppin is simply wonderful! They whole office is so responsive and kind. I went in nervous about my situation, but the whole staff and Dr. Poppin made me feel heard, respected, and extremely cared for. I am in the latter phase of my life with heat flashes, headaches, and sleepless nights....Dr. Poppin heard about all of it and never once denied my experience. I finally felt sane!

The entire staff here is incredibly nice and helpful. Setting up an appointment was easy. They send your pre-appointment paperwork to your email, making it easy to fill out and saving time during your actual appointment. Kyla, PA-C was very thorough during my visit and answered all my questions. She was extremely personable and took her time, ensuring that I was comfortable and taken care of during my visit.

New to the area and they were the first one I called and I was in quickly! The nurse and thw doctor was amazing! No pressure during the exam which is rare to find such gentle hands! Definitely glad to find them!

Dr. Poppen is amazing! He just did my hysterectomy. His bedside manner is beautiful. He is kind, gentle and very knowledgeable. He really cares about the whole person, not just the almighty dollar. His office staff (especially Brandy) is also great. I’ve always been met with respect and never made to feel like a number. Wish I’d have found him sooner.

Best place I’ve been too. The whole staff is kind, efficient, and just overall awesome. They respond very quickly to your needs.Keep up the excellent work!

The office is contemporary with a minimalist approach that is clean and soothing. The staff is genuinely kind. Dr Poppen is truly wonderful, Im so glad hes my doctor. He is personable, respectful, interested, and never seems rushed. As an ageing woman, I appreciate that Dr. Poppen really hears me, patiently explains changes I am experiencing, and tailors his care to my needs. Some doctors become dismissive of older patients, but Dr Poppen and his staff make me feel welcome and heard. I strongly recommend Advanced Gynecology of Reno for women of all ages.

Kyla was amazing and renewed my faith in patient care! She took time and truly addressed all my concerns!!! The other staff was also very welcoming and friendly!!!

I went to advanced gynecology by recommendation of a friend. They were able to quickly get me in for an app. This was the quickest and least painful pap Ive ever had done. I would highly recommend them.

I am so pleased with Dr Poppen. He’s a very nice person. He listens to your concerns and he gives you plenty of time. I also, really like Laurie Smith. I would highly recommend either of these physicians.

I simply adore Dr. Poppin and all of his super supportive office staff. I actually travel from Truckee to see Dr. Poppin because the care is so wonderful. He takes time with you and as a 50+ woman, he really listened to me through all my varied menopause symptoms and completely validated me.

I saw PA-C Kyla Sweeney for help with a misaligned IUD. This was my first time with this office and my first time at an OB/GYN since I moved to the area. She has the bedside manner patients dream of. She sat down and talked about my medical history, concerns I had with alternative forms of BC and she performed the procedure to remove it quickly and painlessly. Ive had such a difficult time with my health previously- mostly with physicians who wouldnt take my concerns seriously because I was so young. She was patient, kind, did not rush through the visit, and I felt very safe. I cant recommend this office enough.

Great experience with Dr.Poppen & team!! I came to his practice for a second opinion and I learned that my previous gynecologist (down the road) had given me incorrect information. Dr. Poppen performed my 3rd endometriosis surgery with expertise! Post surgery he explained in detail what he did during the surgery and put forth a plan to continue pain management for endometriosis. I am so so grateful to have found Advanced Gynecology of Reno! It has been a completely different experience from past doctors that would gaslight my pain & symptoms.

Dr Poppen is wonderful. Hes very kind, gentle and so sympathetic. Ive been dealing with pelvic pain over 6 years now I so wish I had found him earlier. I only saw him once so far but know I finally have found a doctor who truly cares.

Easy access to a pristine and spacious office, plus a real person promptly answers the phone! Dr. Poppen is professional and straightforward, making him easy to talk to. The staff are all caring and kind. Whats not to appreciate if you need to get checked out?!

Laurie Smith is a wonderful nurse practitioner. She listens and takes her time to understand your concerns. Her approach is comprehensive and science based. My experience with the office staff was positive and efficient.

Dr Poppen has seen me through some very trying times and with extreme patience and empathy has helped me navigate post breast cancer and menopausal changes. This was my second visit with Dr Poppen in the past 2 years for routine follow up. I enjoy his staff and his new office. Would follow him to keep his care.I was upset that I was not notified by his last office of him leaving their practice, as most practices let you know when a doctor is leaving. Very impressed with Dr. Poppens. This was my first visit and i was impressed with his care and the care of the office. Very friendly and helpful staff. He took his time to listen to my situation and history and provided a great plan to get to the bottom of the problem. The office staff was very helpful getting my appointments scheduled. I became very sick in March of 2023, and blamed it all on the stressors of graduating nursing school. After months of appetite changes, hot flashes, hormonal imbalances, nausea and vomiting, insomnia, fatigue, and debilitating headaches to only name a handful, I felt defeated. I lost faith in my primary care doctor and showed up to Laurie with all of my concerns and discomforts. She immediately referred me to see Dr. Poppen. He listened, he offered help and tests were ordered. I was finally getting answers. I knew something wasn’t right with my reproductive system, but I never knew what. I learned a month later that I had grown fibroids in and on my uterus that equaled the size of a baby. I went in for a hysterectomy with Dr. Poppen and had everything removed. Surgery was successful. The recovery was gnarly, but that’s what happens when a major organ is removed from your body. It’s been 3 months and I have never felt better. I’m still gaining back strength and have started working as an RN. I was living in immense pain for years, and continuously wrote it off to stress. Thanks to Dr. Poppen, Laurie, Brandi and their entire team. Life is so much better these days! I highly recommend this team. Every woman deserves the high level of care that they offer.

Dr.Poppen is amazing and truly cares about womens health. I appreciate how committed, considerate, and kind he is as a doctor. Laurie Smith was absolutely amazing, she went over everything, and what to expect. She gave me different opinions then explained each and of them but was not condescending or irritated when I asked a “dumb” question. She very open and the rest of the staff and nurses were sweet and didn’t make me feel uncomfortable. Definitely better than OBGYN Associates

Trying to find a new women’s health care provider in Reno was a challenge. As a retired nurse I researched the providers and so glad I found Laurie Smith, NP. I highly recommend her for all ages. She listened to my concerns and my exam was through.

Best practice in town! My daughters and I see Dr. Poppen and Laurie Smith. They are both wonderful, caring, knowledgeable, helpful, and respectful. I highly recommend the practice. We feel comfortable with everyone at the practice, which is of utmost importance.

I definitely recommend Advanced Gynecology, Dr. Poppen and Laurie Smith are great! They give you plenty of time and make sure all of your questions are answered. The other staff is great too and it is easy to get ahold of them and get appointments within a reasonable amount of time.

Advanced Gynecology of Reno was prompt, and professional. I received a call the next day for an appointment. My appointment was for the beginning of the next week. Dr Poppen explained the test results he received. What procedure l needed, and why? I highly recommend Advanced Gynecology of Reno .

I’ve had chronic pelvic, stomach, leg, bladder, sciatic & shoulder pain for the past 10 years. I went to so many doctors for help, had a lot of ultrasounds, & was constantly told “you most likely just have bad periods”. I mentioned endo many times but was told over & over again that it probably wasn’t that. When I found out there was an endometriosis excision specialist who moved to Reno, I made an appointment with him right away. Meeting with Dr. Poppen was truly one of the best things that has ever happened to me. He listened, never rushed me out of his office & told me he would do everything in his power to get me answers. First he got me scheduled with a urologist & after some testing they diagnosed me with interstial cystitis. Then I went in for a laparoscopic excision surgery in November. He found stage 4 endo, along with diaphragmatic endometriosis. It’s such a relief to finally have answers after so many years! So thankful for Dr. Poppen & his entire office. Brandy is also incredible & was so helpful when it came to dealing with insurance & getting my surgery scheduled. My mom also sees Dr. Poppen for her yearly exams & couldn’t be happier with him!
