Maine Family Planning - Thomaston

I really enjoy seeing Susan Lord at this location. I moved to the area recently and needed somewhere to go for my annual womans wellness checkup. I was told Pen Bay was booked for months out. Maine Family Planning was able to get me in within the week. Susan is fun, spunky, and knowledgeable. All the staff are very kind and attentive. I had started to visit MFP in Ellsworth when I first needed annual wellness exams and I found that location a bit dumpy for lack of better wording. This location is not like that at all. I also feel good supporting a non-profit that benefits womens health.

Ive been here several times, and have always had a good experience. Theyre good at working with whatever bad insurance I have, and Ive always felt very good with the doctors. Its an important resource in Rockland. (And the condoms they offer are fine, by the way -- theyre actually a pretty expensive brand.)

If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would. Not for the nurse practitioners, but for the rude and incompetent front office staff. Alicia was extremely unfriendly, unprofessional, and unwilling to help. I was not even able to be seen for my appointment due to overbooking on their behalf. The nurse practitioner made sure that I left with birth control since I had made over an hour round trip to their womens health clinic. Alicias mathematical abilities were questionable as she said a one month supply of nuvarings came to $25 while a three month supply of nuvarings came to $270. She then told me that she could not do anything about the three month supply being so much more expensive than the one month supply because she did not have time and she was too busy. There was one other person to be assisted with checking out who had just left her treatment room moments before Alicia said this. I have held front office as well as office manager positions for the past 8 years so I found this to be completely intolerable and unacceptable behavior.

I love this place. The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. I love Susan, the NP. Ive had nothing but good experiences here and recommend this place to all my female friends.
