AFC Urgent Care Cortez

Got seen right away! The nurse who was assisting the doctor was very rude! I told her I need to use the restroom and got a dirty look! After she led me to the room and I asked her if I could lie down! Dirtiest look ever and said “I guess so” not in a nice way! After I seen the doctor the receptionist who was very kind had to unlock front door to let me out and told me that they had my daughter park in the back! I was so weak from sickness and noticed he locked door when when I left! I’m gathering they didn’t want anybody coming in and they are open until 8 and was around 6 or so! I think they didn’t want cars in front so people would think they were closed! Horrible service! I’ll never go back!

Excellent 👍! Patricia, Dr. Zane Downs & his assistant along with Cheyenne were all very helpful! I felt lucky to have received such superior service. It was a lot quicker than I had anticipated. Definitely recommend to others.

They are seriously great here from the kind front desk gentleman, to the nurses and the Doctors!!!! Matt was my doctor today and has been several times for myself and my son. He is always so KIND AND PACIENT and he takes the time to listen. You are in and out every single time without fail in like 20 minutes-seriously unheard of in a doctor office let alone urgent care!!!! You guys all rock, thanks for treating people like humans which is hard to find in the Healthcare industry here in Cortez. Seriously wonderful!!!!

This urgent care provided us with top-notch care and we were in and out in 20 minutes. Also, Patricia at the front desk is a wonderful human! I left my AirPods in the clinic and she shipped them to our home in Denver. She really went above and beyond.

Recently, we were here after our daughter had been thrown off her horse. They had an x ray technician, which was great. We didnt have to be referred to the hospital and make two different trips. The doctor on hand was very nice and helpful and showed us where her fracture was. He also referred us to an orthopedic surgeon and had sent everything over before we left. We got a call from them to schedule an appointment before we even left town, which was nice. Front desk people, wish i would have remembered peoples names, were friendly and amazing, and even offered my kids waters. So far, its the best experience I have ever had with a walk-in clinic. I will definitely come back in the future, but hopefully, it will be for a cold and not a fractured arm.

I had the need for AFC Cortez yesterday and found myself in good hands. From the receptionist, nurse and physicians assistant I was treated promptly and professionally. My issue required a small procedure, an injection and prescriptions that able to get locally all within an hour. I’m very impressed with AFC Urgent Care.

We had an excellent experience at this urgent care facility. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional, making us feel comfortable from the moment we walked in. The care received was top-notch, and the team was efficient and attentive to our needs. I highly recommend this facility for anyone seeking prompt and quality medical care.

Dr Shawnee and Nurse Shannon were amazing. They were so kind and professional and took great care of my daughter and I. It was our first time there. The place was very clean. The receptionist was super nice and helpful. It was a pretty quick in and out experience which I appreciate although we were not rushed in our time with the Dr.

Shawnee is a great care provider thorough and genuine, two things I can really appreciate in a care provider especially sense its a rare quality. I came in with a very painful ankle injury. Frank in reception was very nice and thorough getting my information (Im from out of town) and getting a wheelchair for me. Noah took my vitals and xrays. Great young man, vary professional. I was seen by Shawnee Bradley NP. She was extremely through, very professional, kind and caring for my wellbeing. Shawnee, called later in the day to inform me of the reading of my xrays. Taking the care to send a referral over to a foot and ankle clinic. Great urgent care! Great people in this urgent care! 5 stars!

Nurse practitioner was super super rude to my 4 year old son wile checking him out. Has no bed side manner. Her name was Shawnee. If you go here don’t let her look at your sick kids she’ll just be rude to them and unprofessional complaining about how my sick child was acting. She shouldn’t be allowed to treat children.

This was our first visit to this office since we just moved to the area—what a pleasant surprise My wife and I were both experiencing cold/flu symptoms and were 50 miles from our regular doctors. We were able to both get treated on the same afternoon. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were attended to very professionally and promptly. Would certainly recommend this office to others.

The receptionist spent at least 15 minutes helping me find a person to authorize my coverage on a Sunday. My PA was kind and explained things so well I only had 1 question. Nice facility! Will definitely return here when needed.

Frank at the front door helped me out tremendously, he was very helpful and was quick to get me in. The X ray tech was a girl about 22 years old I don’t know her name but she was very helpful and kind. Made my visit here pleasant in a bad event.

I went to afc urgent care today because Ive had really bad hip and lower back pain for the last two weeks.i dont have insurance or a family doctor.afc was able to see me unfortunately I did have to pay out of pocket for everything such as a x ray urine test and a blood draw.i dont regularly see anyone like that or doctors in general so I wasnt too sure on what to expect.all the ladys there are really nice staring off with the front desk all the way through chyanne,bre,Deanna,and shawnee.i apologize if i left anyone out.in all i was happy with my visit im just anxious to see if the anti inflammatory and steroid injections i got will help,i really hope so because im only 32 but ive been walking like a old man.over all thow i would recommend afc urgent care.

Zane was incredibly kind and knowledgeable and immediately ordered my needed prescription. Definitely a 5 for the clinic and Zane.Second time here and once again I was taken in immediately. The staff were so kind and it is so important to know they care. Zane was my doctor and immediately recognized me. We talked about my problem and he immediately order my medications. I was in and out in about 30 minutes. I highly recommend AFC when your personal physician is not available.

Developed a cold while traveling across the country. What a great urgent care this is!! I got in right away and everyone from the front desk to the provider was wonderful. Would highly recommend!

Update: after leaving this review, Dr. Shawnee got into my file and called my personal cell phone…. Talk about creepy and a total violation of my privacy!!!!! Wow. How extraordinarily unprofessional and ILLEGAL! Sketchy.The receptionists and other practitioners have been wonderful and go above and beyond. However, I had the worst doctor experience I’ve ever had in my life with Dr. Shawnee. She completely dismissed me and my concerns, and told me that my fungal infection was just dry skin. She made me feel crazy for even thinking it was anything else. She barely listened to me. I went to a dermatologist a referral from a different (and wonderful) doctor there and it was confirmed ringworm. $300 to be gaslit and misdiagnosed! I refuse to visit this Urgent Care when she is working. My boss had a similar experience, and we both refuse to see her. It’s a shame, because it is otherwise a great facility.

We had an excellent experience at AFC. Everyone was very nice and knowledgeable. No waiting and fast treatment. We highly recomend this urgent care.

Office staff is pleasant and professional. I have visited on multiple occasions and I have always been seen quickly and had my concerns addressed.

We were traveling through, and our baby was sick. We went off of the recommendation from our RV host and all the amazing reviews online. We were not disappointed! The clinic has great curb appeal and was very clean. All the staff, from front office staff to the medical tech to the NP that saw us were all very sweet, knowledgeable, and helpful! We were in and out quickly with the best care. They even helped us find a pharmacy that was close and still open!

Frank at the front desk was very polite. They were all very helpful and answered all my questions. Got in on a Saturday morning quickly.

Just beware that they will take the remainder of your co-insurance on the same account you leave your $150 deposit WITHOUT sending you a bill or other notification.

The entire staff was AMAZING! Frank at the front during check in was wonderful and so friendly and helpful. Heile was a great assistant and Shawnee Bradley the NP was extremely personable, explained everything thoroughly, and was quick and efficient with her care. I am from out of state and was highly impressed with the entire facility. I was in and out in less than an hour, and that includes stitches, etc. Highly recommend!!

Zane was amazing. He knew the situation and took care of it quickly. I highly recommend this place!

We made an appt online. Upon arrival staff insisted we had an insurance which we dont. We insisted we didnt have that insurance yet staff continued to insist we did. It went so far as staff having to clear the messy desk in order to turn her monitor around so we could see it. See had another patient pulled up on her screen, even though we had made an appt and the correct data was in her computer. Then staff got mad at us for correcting her and called out her boss. I told the boss lady the staff behaved incompetently. Staff threw down her pen and stomped away. Boss lady threw us out. We came to another care place. Horrible experience!

I was welcomed by a great staff and helped me with the on line registration and would actually talk with you. I did not have to sit long in the patient room when seen by the doctor. She was very Courteous and talked with me, she performed tests on my eyes that the hospital ER did not do and found an optometrist that I could get into that afternoon. The Doctor was very knowledgeable at what she was looking at and the whole staff made me feel very welcome!!! I was very pleased with how they handled my visit!!Thanks you all so very much!!

The staff were so friendly! They handed out juice and water to patients in the lobby. The nurses and doctor were amazing with my little guy and so personable. Didnt feel rushed out or ignored there at all. Great place, keep it up!

Very thankful for the care my son received! The staff was very attentive while doing his X-rays and wrapping his broken elbow. Dr. Zane was very informative and helped ease my concerns as well as getting us to a specialist who could continue his care. If the need arises in the future I will definitely return!

My wife and I were amazed at the high degree of kindness, courtesy, and professionalism shown to us at my visit. Im 62 and have seen alot of doctors in my lifetime. 10/10 way better than southwest medical group walk in. Had Disney movies playing, my daughter got juice and treat after, very comfortable and CLEAN. Did not disappoint!

The providers and technicians at this location have been excellent the two times I have received care at this AFC location.Unfortunately, AFC will not electronically transmit X-ray imaging to other providers, and the patient must physically pick up an imaging disc to bring with them to a specialized provider. At the time of my urgent care visit, I was not made aware of this policy. I requested that my records/imaging be sent to a specific specialist provider and was told that was no problem. Upon arriving at the orthopedic office, they said they understood that I was bringing this disc. AFC never called me to tell me I must physically retrieve the disc to bring to my ortho appointment. The ortho office told me they had asked AFC if this information was communicated to the patient (me), and AFC confirmed. Again, I never received a call from AFC about the need for me to pick up my imaging disc. As a result, I had to get a duplicative set of X-rays. This scenario is particularly frustrating as I sustained a painful injury that requires surgery and MRI, and this type of miscommunication delays me from receiving additional care.AFC should reconsider this policy as I understand it is an anomaly within the industry, and it is difficult for patients with broken bones to drive around picking up hardware when the standard within the industry is to electronically transmit patient records.

Stopped in this morning, front staff is friendly and welcoming, Frank is the absolute best! They got me in, the doc was thorough, took her time explaining and listening and got me taken care of. Definitely felt better coming out than I did going in.

Excellent service and very helpful staff. Professional, courteous, friendly. Front desk offered water while we waited. The electronic check-in was smooth and easy. They called me directly after the radiologist read the X-rays. Best Urgent Care experience ever.

Frank- the receptionist, and Cheyenne- the MA, were amazing! Frank was so welcoming and made sure we had everything we need, even checking to make sure our pharmacy would be open after our appointment! Cheyenne was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain what she was doing, and why.Absolutely will come back and take my family back!

The female working at the desk answered all my questions before I made my trip out to the Urgent Care. When I arrived she was very professional and kind! She also offer me a cold water which I did need. I appreciate the doctors efforts to help me anyway possible and the nurse was very kind. The over experience was phenomenal and I appreciated it!! This experience did make my drive back to Albuquerque a lot better than what I would have to endure on the way home in pain. Deserves a 10 out of 10!!

I must say Kerri and Frank are so awesome! They just make my day! I went to AFC today for my flu vaccine because why go to a pharmacy when I can go to AFC and have a MUCH more pleasant experience than waiting forever at a pharmacy. I honestly do not even care how much it costs because you get what you pay for and the quality of care at AFC urgent care is worth every penny!

Efficient as always. I called for a DOT physical about an hour ago…they said I could come in anytime. I did! And now I’m out…thanks!

Place is absolutely terrible. Waited for two hours just to be sent home with absolutely nothing. I would never recommend this even if you’re dying place is awful.

I absolutely recommend this 100%. I only wish they did primary care!!! I have been there 3 times and all 3 times they took the time to listen and fix any issue I have within their ability. It is super hard to find that here in Cortez. If I had my choice this would be the only place to go. Thank you all for amazing patient service!

I will definitely choose this facility over the other urgent care in town. Everyone was friendly and took time to answer questions. I was a little suprised it took longer to get in to see the Dr as there was no one even in the waiting room when I walked in and only one person walked out. Im assuming that there was only one Dr on duty that day. Regardless it wasnt a long wait.

First and foremost the customer service we received was extremely inadequate.The person at the front desk made my family feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. I was working so my husband took my daughter into the walk in clinic, because he is her step father and not her true paternal guardian she made him call me and I had to write a letter that her step dad was allowed to seek care for her and also send a picture of my drivers license.My husband felt extremely uncomfortable because she made him feel like he was doing something wrong just for not being her father and trying to get her care.Furthermore, while I was other phone with my husband and he was telling me what the woman needed when he said the woman at the walk in needs the front desk person interrupted him and loudly said Thats it Im getting my manager. He then said to her did I offend you in some way because I said woman? How am I supposed to know your name? She ended up not getting the manager after all.After all the hoops we jumped through, my minor daughter was able to be seen by the physician but even she told me when she got home that the woman at the front desk was being very rude to her step dad and made her uncomfortable.Your representatives are the face of your company and create the first impression. This one clearly belongs behind the scenes and not working directly with customers without some proper training.This time around my daughter was able to get her medicine right away from the pharmacy which we are greatful for. The last time she needed antibiotics we had to call back AFC three times because the pharmacy wasnt receiving the orders.They told me during one of the three calls it was because the representative sent it to a pharmacy in Durango and not Cortez.Unfortunately these experiences will stop my family and I from going back.The district manager reached out to me and was very professional and caring. He listened to the details of my visit and made me feel heard. I appreciate him calling, I have updated my review.Thank you!

The staff and NP were very thorough professional and relatable. They spent time explaining the procedures and the potential reasons for the issues I was having. They followed up by phone and email for three days (so far). Overall I was very impressed with the care I received. We went to AFC for my husband who had an infection. We got in right away. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. We thought the medical care received by the NP, Kelsey, and the MA Cheyenne, were first rate. Very timely, clear and compassionate communicators. The reason for the 4 starts instead of 5 is one thing, which may seem minor to some. There was a kids TV program playing in the exam room (same as the waiting room). The program was loud and frenetic. When we asked if the TV could be turned off, the MA said, no but she would turn it down. It was turned down some, but it still made it a constant effort for us to hear what the providers were saying to us. It distracted from medical care. I realize the place is geared towards families with kids, but even for kids, there was nothing about what was coming across the screen that was calming or reassuring -- just the opposite. Some of it I did not consider family friendly especially for younger kids. Something is wrong when devices cant be turned OFF to accomodate real life needs.We were very glad to be able to see a medical professional and feel fortunate that we have AFC in our town.One word of advice to other users -- It was great to be able to make an appointment online, but next time I would skip the rest of the online check-in. You basically have to do the same thing when you get to the facility. I spent a considerable amount of time getting insurance cards photographed and uploaded (my slow internet) and then they needed them when I got there anyway.

Stopped here at AFC Urgent Care in Cortez, CO after a hiking & biking leg injury. The entire staff was very professional and personable. I was very pleased with the outcome of my visit and would definitely recommend stopping here for urgent care.

I was so grateful for their care and support! I was dehydrated, very weak, and a little disoriented. They filled out my paperwork, gave me water, and diagnosed me in minutes. What a compassionate, wonderful, and knowledgeable team! Highly recommend them!

Everything was really clean nicely decorated normally clean medical buildings are freezing cold, or have a horrible smell. This place doesn’t. All the staff was friendly and there wasn’t a long wait and they were kind Disney movies in the waiting room in the TV in the exam room was nice to keep everything calm so you had something to do while you waited

I don’t give five stars on a first visit, but these folks were great. Also, SW Health is in serious need of some real competition.Any urgent care is limited in what they can do, but to that extent I was satisfied with the people at AFC.

All staff in our new facility was amazing. The receptionists Were kind and informative informative the nurse was very kind and the Doctor was very caring and made sure she did everything she could to help me and made sure I got the care I needed. We needed this place in our town.

Frank is the most helpful person. He gave me tips about pharmacies that will save me money and made my experience a great one. He’s warm and friendly to all. Both MAs were also helpful and kind.

I have been to AFC’s in Fairhope, AL and Montgomery, AL. This Cortez location is amazing and so much nicer than the others. Everyone I met was fabulous. Loved Zane. Wish y’all would relocate to Alabama!! Thanks for the great care.

Wonderful! Staff and doctor very kind and responsive to my needs. We are working in a campground here for 6 months and therefore, do not have a regular doctor. So glad we found somewhere we can go while here ! Highly recommend.

The online appointment process was very easy and clear direction was given for appointment updates. I received a text 20 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment and was notified that there was a delay and to come 30 minutes later. This was very helpful and we didnt have to wait in the lobby for an extended time. The facility was very clean and tidy, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Great environment and I recommend their services.

AFC Correz is the standard by which urgent care should be measured. Spotless facility. Prompt service. Most importantly friendly and professional staff. AFC Urgent Care is a true asset to Cortez, Colorado. We could not have had a better experience anywhere.

I visited for a pre employment screening. Deanna was extremely helpful. I was frustrated when I found out they couldn’t do the drug test that day. She seat with me with understanding and respect. They accommodated me in every way possible and we decided I would do the drug screening when I can back to have TB read. Upon returning Logan checked me is was pleasant and caring even while dealing with other difficult patients. They did my drug screen and all went great. I think i was the first for this test. I had to go back again for another drug screen for a different employer and again Logan and Deanna were amazing. I will return here for all my urgent care needs

I visited this urgent care facility with my husband recently and had a very good experience. My husband was dealing with some health issues that have been around for a while, and were then complicated by covid and exposure to an environmental toxin. Claire, the nurse practitioner on staff, took plenty of time listening to us and asking questions to get a good picture of all that was going on. She probably spent close to 45 minutes with us trying to understand the problems and symptoms and come up with a treatment plan. We really appreciated her kindness, professionalism, and care. We would definitely go to AFC Urgent Care again, if in need of medical care, and would highly recommend it to anyone else.

So if you need a quick flu shot, AFC walk-in clinic is where you need to be. I would imagine that you will have excellent attention for your needs what ever it might be. The clinic is very clean and we got in right away. The whole staff were wonderful and they have a gentle touch when giving you the needle. If you need attention AFC has what you need and are very careful and caring about your needs.

Great experience here. We were seen within 15 minutes and the staff was very friendly. I received a follow up call asking how I was feeling a few days later which was nice. So grateful we have an urgent care center here in Cortez.

Went here after another urgent care missed I was allergic to a medication. Went well infection was gone pretty quick. Got the same infection again was given something else and no improvement. I called to see if there was an alternative since I have to work. Nothing was done. So here I am working with one arm. Don’t waste your time or money.

So appreciative of the care and follow-up received here--honest,caring, and personable. Every time I have visited the urgent care wether for me or my children we were seen fast and the staff has always been very kind and patient and very helpful. The waiting area always looks clean and Tidy and they usually play Disney movies on the tv. The wait is never long either. I highly recommend the Cortez AFC walk in clinic!

AFC Urgent Care is a much needed addition to our community. They offer on site radiology as well as all rapid testing. Staff members were nice and the provider we saw was friendly and thorough.. Thank you!

I had a great experience here. Logan was very friendly. Kelsey was very attentive and patient centered. The check in process was very user friendly. The facility was very clean.

They were promt, and professional. They got us in last minute to make sure my daughter was taken care of.

The young man who took my vitals was very pleasant and seemed quite knowledgeable.The Nurse Practitioner who assessed my issue and came up with a plan was EXACTLY the person patients want to see - knowledgeable and genuinely concerned.

The staff and service here were so much more than 5 stars! Finally a healthcare option that is not affiliated with SouthWest Medical Center! They offered us water while we waited. They offered my kiddo a popsicle. The staff were so inviting and pleasant, the doctor was kind and explained everything. Please please please, open more clinics here not associated with the hospital and heck even open a hospital under this company! We need quality healthcare like AFC provides! Above and beyond amazing! You can even go online and set up an appointment!

I give my experience a 2 star I brought my 2 year old here because she was running a high fever and I wanted to see if by going here I would have a better experience with the health care they provide. I first called and it said no need for an appointment since you are walk-in based. When I get there the lady at the desk says they are understaffed and I need to make an appointment so I did. When we got back at time of the appointment we waited in the waiting room for over an hour before someone took us back. After they took us back they did the normal asking what’s going on. They test for Covid, the flu, and RSV. ( she WASNT presenting symptoms of these viruses) they tell us to wait for the results. (Never was told about these results) About 30 minutes later another nurse walked in finally checked my daughters ears and lungs. They came to the conclusion she has an ear infection. There was no signs that this what was going on. ( no pulling at ears or complaining about them) I had no choice at the time to trust them because it was getting late and I already waited over an hour and a half with my sick toddler. They shooed us off even though I was hesitant about that decision. I went to go get a second opinion because it just didn’t feel right. She doesn’t have an ear infection at all and no sign of Covid RSV or the flu. She has hand foot and month. I’m glad I went with the second option I would’ve giving my daughter a medication she didn’t need and it could’ve hurt her. I recommend spending a little more time looking at your patients even when you’re under staffed and busy. This is not okay and I’m infuriated as a parent.

I was so excited to be getting another healthcare option in Cortez. Needed little man to be seen today. They said they cant verify insurance on a weekend, so he cant be seen unless we wanted to pay $300 for a COVID test. Talk about ridiculous.Couple of hours later, they called back and told me that was a mistake, and theyd be happy to see us and bill insurance on a later date.Fast forward months in advanced. They are now asking me to pay the $300 again, AND sent the $40 copay I had already paid, back to me in a refund check. So which is it? If I owe money why am I receiving a refund check?

This place was such a wonderful experience!!! We definitely will be coming back here!!! Everyone is as so welcoming and polite!!! I was blown away by how nice every single person working here!!! Thank you for for being so kind!!!!

I went in with severe asthma issue. From the minute I walked in I was treated with such care. I saw a NP and she certainly knew how to treat me. I will certainly use AFC when I am in need. If I could give 10 ☆s, I would.

Nothing urgent about this. We walked in and NO ONE was there but we were told we couldn’t be seen for 2.5 hours because the appointments were all filled. Meanwhile my wife has hives all over her face and body. So frustrating.
