I was extremely disappointed with my experience with Dr. Howell. She would not allow me to explain my symptoms and the problems I am having. Nothing was addressed and it was apparent that she had no intent to help me.I wanted to feel heard and understood, but unfortunately, our interactions were her being very argumentative and rude for no reason. There was a definite lack of compassion and empathy, which made me feel uncomfortable and disrespected. She interrupted me and talked over me when I attempted to speak and was very abrupt and did not explain things well either.She did not seem to know medical history or the reasons I was referred to her and did not care to find out either.As a patient, I believe its essential for healthcare providers to listen actively and treat patients with kindness and respect. Unfortunately, my appointment with Dr. Howell fell entirely short of these expectations.She was downright hateful, rude, and very unprofessional.Seems that a lot of people have experiences like mine. I would highly encourage you to read all the reviews and search comments in local FB groups too. It is absolutely horrendous how the treats some people.I was left in pain and discomfort and scrambling to find another provider who would help me.

Dr. Howell performed a hysterectomy on me 6/13/24. She was very thorough and explained everything in detail beforehand. The day of surgery all went well and post-surgery Ive never felt better. Dr. Howell is very knowledgeable and has answered all my questions going thru this whole process. Would highly recommend!

I love Dr Howell. She takes her time to discuss things with you. I have going to Dr Howell for years and never think about getting a new Dr. there is no use to when you have the best. Her staff is so friendly and very helpful also. They all go out of the way to help you.

This was my first ever appointment with a gynecologist, so I was nervous and hoping it would be a good experience. It was not. The staff were very friendly, but Dr Howell was hostile, dismissive, and talked down to me during my appointment. I came to talk about new birth control options, and she turned down every single one I had looked into. Told me they were “terrible ideas” and I ended up leaving and being back at square one. I told my mom about the situation and she was appalled, and wanted to talk to Dr Howell. Dr Howell spoke down to my mom as well, on further proving how poor her bedside manner is. I was hoping to have a good experience for my first time at a gynecologist, but unfortunately it was the worst experience.

Excellent as always. Staff is super friendly, accommodating and efficient. And Dr Howell is amazing. She saved my daughter’s life with her expert diagnosis and extremely progressive treatment and guidance for GYN oncology. And she has treated and helped me for years. And now Dr Howell is changing my life with her continued knowledge of technology. I am so blessed and thankful to have her to care for me.

Tamara Howell is the best doctors I’ve ever had. She is straightforward, no nonsense and tells you exactly what’s coming and what you need to do. I will be very glad to recommend her to anyone that I know.

I was very pleased with my visit. Dr. HOWELL really helped me.The pills for incontinence are working really good. She said she would call In a prescription for these if they helped me. They really do. Also the estrogen that I am doing is working good too. Thank you Dr.Hi owell for everything you have done for me. I am so glad I went to you. Love, love, love Dr. Howell. She is always attentive, addresses any and all concerns. She truly gives the best care possible. I wouldnt go to anyone else!

Dr Howell is extremely efficient. She did an in-depth exam. She explained things very well . I was very impressed. She will be my physician of choice in the future.,

Just Needed Birth ControlLast week my daughter went to see Dr. Howell for her first gynecological visit, specifically for new birth control options. The birth control she was on made her feel so terrible she desperately wanted to stop taking it; especially since she had a 3 month wait to get her first appointment as a new patient. Shortly after the appointment my daughter called me crying and upset that Dr. Howell didnt do anything for her - just gave her a pamphlet and told her to come back in 4 months. During the 5 minute appointment, there was some discussion about types of birth control but everything my daughter suggested was discouraged by Dr. Howell, and then proceeded to give her a harsh lecture on condoms (as if she was a 14 yo). So my question/concern is simply - What gynecologist sends a 20 year old college girl out of their office WITHOUT birth control, and tells her to come back in 4 months?? She could be pregnant in 4 months! After hearing my daughters aggravating ordeal, I asked to speak to Dr. Howell whom Ive never met. Sadly, I dont believe she even cared that my daughter NEEDED birth control. She was very confrontational, dismissive, and talked AT ME the whole time - this was not a conversation. Her bedside manner was the worst I have ever experienced. She did not seem concerned about what my daughter needed or felt, or what I thought. Dr. Howell only wanted to hear herself talk...non-stop! I am a cancer survivor and have met many doctors and continue to have a team of doctors, never have I ever encountered such an arrogant medical professional. Dr. Howell failed my daughter on so many levels. Youd think with a history of cancer (BRCA2 gene) in the family, there would be conversations of future exams, mammograms, paps, or a birth control she could try right away. Please do your research before you choose to put your healthcare needs in her hands.

Dr. Howell is one of a kind. Shes thorough, inquisitive and honest. Her persistent to get the answer to my medical condition probably saved my life, and I will be forever grateful to her.

Dr. Tamera Howell is just how I like my doctors to be: Highly informed and skilled, no-nonsense approach, takes time to listen to my issues, and totally worthy of patient trust and confidence. Were lucky to have her in the NRV. Highly recommend!

Great doctor, takes the time to go explain details to u so u understand completely. She checks in with u personally. Called me on her personal cell to let me know I’m not alone and never feel I can’t reach out with questions. Awesome doctor.

Dr Howell was very professional and efficient. I talked to her about getting a hysterectomy and she took the time to discuss my options. I would recommend her to my family and friends.

She doesnt even deserve the 1 star . Dr Howell is the most disrespectful medical provider Ive ever met. Absolutely the worst experience Ive ever had. I rather not post my personal experience here but I will say to whomever reading this, please do avoid her and her staff as well. I was completely in shock after my visit. I hope with more people coming forward about their experiences with her that she will be reported and potentially have some sort of repercussions.

She did a hysterectomy on me and cut my uterer..she then said it came from inflammation and while Im laying on the examination table crying because I have to have another major surgery to repair the damage she very coldly reminded me of the paper I signed about complications and said this is what happens when people are so quick to have a hysterectomy! She was so cold and so heartless absolutely no compassion! I reported her to medical.board and am speaking with lawyers . This happened in April of this year. I would not recommend her to my worst enemy. I had to have a nephrostomy tube for 1 month before they could do my uterer reimplantation surgery.. absolutely horrible experience 😢

Great bedside manner. Staff is excellent as well. Answered all my questions and gave me up to date info needed for my problem. Would recommend her to any woman wanting/needing professional treatment.

Dr Howell was extremely rude and inconsiderate. She didn’t seem to care about the pain i was in. she spoke to me like i was stupid while i was just trying to ask questions about her diagnosis. Also after adamantly saying that i should take some medication, she did not send the prescription in.

Love Dr Howell. She’s very understanding and informative and truly cares about her patients. The staff is also very nice and personable. Gighly recommend.

Comes into the room asking what Im there for.... I explain to her what had been going. Explained that I did not want birth control but stated it would be the only way to solve the problem I was having. She was in and out of my room in probably less than 5 minutes. I left with more questions and no answers. If you want a gynecologist that will actually listen to you and will work on a long term plan with you... this is not your doctor.

Ill start by saying Im sure Dr Howell is a good doctor, and is able to meet the needs of some patients. But in my visit with her she was very adamant in saying the only way to get an accurate pap smear given the fact I have cervical stenosis was for me to use hormones (which I told her I was pretty much uncomfortable with) to soften my cervix so that she could get an accurate pap smear otherwise I would never be able to get an accurate pap done if I didnt take the hormone she was recommending. I wanted to ask her an additional question that I had forgotten to ask in my visit which was is it possible to dilate my cervix instead of hormone use to get that accurate pap but I was told that I would have to make another appointment to ask the question. So I went to my doctor in Connecticut who is an OBGYN and she was able to get an accurate pap smear by dilating my cervix. Dr Howell however did not give me this option even though she knew I was against taking hormones. What ever happened to doctors who care about listening to their patients. Why not give a patient all their options?

Extremely pleased with the success of my bladder sling surgery performed by Dr. Howell. The results make me think I should’ve done years ago. Office staff very friendly as well.

Dr Howell is a good listener. So important in a Doctor!And she and her staff are always helpful and pleasant.

The staff seems filled with joy. I think that says a lot for Dr. Howell and her professionalism. I personally have really loved the care I’ve received from her and the staff.

The nursing staff was friendly and professional, Dr Howel was professional as well and made me feel very comfortable, she has a wonderful bedside manner.

The procedure I had was known to be painful but Dr. Howell calmed me and she was right, it was a piece of cake, thanks to her. She’s amazing!

Front desk checking in/out, nurses and Dr. Howell everyone was so nice and easy to talk to. I will continue my care with them. I highly recommend them.

Tamera Howell MD and her staff took real good care of me. Every one was really nice . They were all friendly and helped with all my needs. My bladder surgery went well. I am feeling a lot better after getting my catheter out. I still have about 5 weeks for a full recovery . I can go on walks now. Thanks again everyone

Dr. Howell could not have been anymore concerned for my daughters well being. Stayed late to fit her in and showed so much compassion for her. Explained everything to me as her parent and to her in terms she could understand. Spent a considerably amount of time with us and made this concerned Momma feel 100% better about the situation. We will continue to see Dr. Howell as long as she is in our area... Thank you for caring...

I’ve been seeing Dr.Howell for a number of years. Firstly, she is an amazingly knowledgeable physician! So grateful for all of the things she has done to help me! I talk too much, and don’t give enough important detail, but somehow, she figures me out, and gets me in and out quickly. (Bc who wants to be in a gynos office all day) She makes me feel like I’m talking to a friend, and that’s truly what I want from my gynecologist. Heck, that’s what I want in ALL of my physicians! I’ll stay with her, until she retires or moves too far away!!

Office staff were very professional & very friendly, the nurse was very professional & friendly. I was seen on time for my appointment. Waiting area & clinical areas were very clean & organized. The provider was knowledgeable but I felt was somewhat of a rush so I felt a little rushed through my appointment. However I feel this provider is knowledgeable & I would see again.

Dr. Howell is a very knowledgeable and has great communication skills. I like the fact she is with my primary physician as well.
