First Step Pregnancy Resource Center is a welcoming place for everyone. The clinic provides a calming environment for women or men to talk about whatever they may be going through. They provide different services from sonograms to parenting classes. The staff is excellent and cares about the individual and their needs.It has been a privilege to support this clinic and watch first hand as it has changed the lives of women for the better. This center is a place where compassion is key in what they try to do, and that is to help others.

First Step is all about empowering individuals to make informed choices. They offer confidential, compassionate, accurate information and counseling to couples with unplanned pregnancies. All their services are free, including free ultrasounds. They truly support women and men in a time of crisis. The professional staff there will help a woman or couple with difficult decisions and choices with complete confidentiality. They are not motivated by money like other clinics who stand to profit from your decision to utilize their services. The people I know that work there genuinely care about women! First Step has a lot to offer anyone dealing with an unplanned pregnancy. My neighbor told me her son (the cutest little boy ever!) is alive because of the help she received at First Step-wow!

This is a wonderful organization that my husband and I are proud to support. They provide free ultrasounds and support all in a confidential and loving environment. The staff is amazing and the services and accurate information they provide allow women to make an informed choice in the middle of such difficult circumstances. The stories of unborn babies being saved are incredible! I am so thankful for organizations such as First Step! Keep up the good work folks!

I have been in this facility several times! The staff is pleasant, knowledgeable, and courteous. They offer free ultrasounds to women with trained technicians. It was obvious to me that the priority of First Step is showing anyone who crosses their threshold that they are valued, respected, and safe. I also have seen how they work with clients, absolutely respecting the free will of each human person.I went to First Step wondering if they truly had the ability to connect pregnant women with the resources they need. The first thing Nicole showed me was pages upon pages of detailed, up-to-date resources of all kinds. And then she showed me around the classrooms, where they offer parenting classes and more. All I saw there was hope and support.Im thrilled to have a Pregnancy Resource Center like this in Bangor. I encourage anyone who is interested in learning more to visit them and see for yourself!

I have personally met three staff members from First Step Pregnancy Resource Center and I have found them all to be honest, trustworthy, caring and very knowledgeable and informative. Considering that a Resource Center exists to inform people of all their options, these staff members represented their Center excellently! I would recommend them to anyone with a planned or unplanned pregnancy. I recommend them for all kinds of information for pregnancies, parenting, birthing, breastfeeding and to anyone looking to be a good mommy or daddy.

I have had the privilege of meeting the staff at First Step, touring their facility, and seeing first-hand their resources, as well as observing their organization over the past several years. This is a resource center for pregnancy, where women are treated with the utmost respect and compassion in all circumstances, where they can talk openly and honestly with staff and will receive open and honest answers to their questions, where they can be supported whatever their decision is regarding their situation and have complete confidence their situation will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. No judgment, no pressure, just empathy and compassion. I highly recommend First Step Pregnancy Resource Center for any woman who needs comprehensive information and support regarding her pregnancy.

Ever since my husband and I learned about First Step Pregnancy Resource in 2010, we have been proud supporters. The confidential, loving support offered by the staff at First Step is top notch. They also offer free ultrasounds to anyone and everyone! Their mission statement is Empowering individuals to make informed choices. This Center is a blessing to our community. Staffed by knowledgeable and caring people, they offer free, factual, confidential services to pregnant moms (& the dads) throughout and after their pregnancy. I know many of the volunteers personally and the work they do here is amazing! Their classes, materials, support & advice are provided freely, without pressure or any strings attached.

First Step is a wonderful center for helping women make informed choices. It provides a place for women to feel safe and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Each year they do a walk for life to help raise money for the center. I met a wonderful ultrasound tech who volunteers her lunchtime to come do free ultrasounds for women at the center. I would recommend this place to anyone!

I have been very thankful that the Bangor area has a resource for women who are in need of information regarding an unwanted pregnancy. This is a safe haven of women who are ready and willing to reach out to help others in a non-judgemental way, there to listen to the hearts of any women coming to them for resources and answers to their heart cries. The offer to listen, love and lessen anxiety doesnt end if the client chooses to seek a different choice elsewhere, for they are there anytime the client chooses to return in the future to comfort and strengthen them after whatever choice theyve made. Giving women true information enables them to make the educated choice they need to make. Thank you for many years of love, sacrifice and support for many women, and their families as well.

The staff people that I personally know from First Step are incredibly caring and loving. They go out of their way to try to make those who seek their free services feel welcome and connected with individuals for continued support. I know of one young woman who was able to find another woman in her local area to be a friend and mentor after First Step reached out to her when she had inquired about their services. They really care about people and are there when you need them. I highly recommend First Step.

The First Step pregnancy resource center is a great place. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. If they do not have the answer they will try to find the patient the help that they need. They just like any other organization of professionals have the right to refer patients to the outlying facilities that they consider to be in line with what they hold true. I find that most people complain when it comes to this specific field and yet they have no idea who/what they are supporting when they shop at any other local store. People will have an agenda and will fight for stupid things and yet when you take that principle and hold it true in other areas you will find those people to be hypocrites. Keep doing what you are doing in the Bangor area First Step Pregnancy! Your services are needed!

Im wondering if those who have left negative comments have really visited First Step or if they are part of a larger smear campaign. First Step is an amazing place; loving, compassionate, and truthful. They walk with women who are in a difficult place in life. First Step is a place one can go and simply calm their racing thoughts. They come alongside these women and simply love them. The services they offer: parenting, pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, material assistance and more, are all offered at NO COST. I have been involved with this great organization for more than 5 years. The compassionate staff offer a caring environment for women to discuss an unplanned pregnancy. Get a free pregnancy test. See your beautiful baby in a free ultrasound by a healthcare professional! Take some free birth and childcare classes. Receive help with baby items such as diapers and clothes. They truly help women!!

I personally know a few staff members, that run First Step Pregnancy Resource Center. They are very kind, caring,compassionate,Trustworthy. And abide by respect of others. Everything is done in a confedential manner and of Greatest Respect!! Im Grateful and Proud of the staff, that have a strong empowering heart, to help others. That in this world there is a lack of! We at Harvest Chapel in Levant support this organization and know first hand from women who have used their services, to be what they claim to be. This is kind, caring place where women have an alternative solution to aborting their babies. I have been involved with First Step Pregnancy Center for over 15 years. Most “planned parenthood” types of places do not provide the care and truth of the possibilities that First Step does. They provide free ultrasounds and testing. They also provide information about adoption resources if a pregnancy is confirmed but a child is not wanted at the time. Choice of ending a life is not an option at the Center, but that is to be commended. They have seen lives changed and saved through the options they provide; and the healing for so many women who regret their past decisions of ending a life. They provide confidential counseling and support to all who come contact them.

First Step enjoys excellent relationships with local medical professionals, counselors and churches, as well as with thousands of clients, volunteers, staff and faith based supporters who have been involved with First Step for many years.First Step provides fact based information about the expectant mothers baby. A free ultrasound is available. Pre and post birth counseling are available. Parent training is available. Adoption referrals are available. Baby resources (diapers, etc) are available. All First Step services are free, provided by donations from volunteers and supporters.

Kind, caring, clean and sooo helpful. Im extremely thankful for the care that First Step gives to women. They are an excellent community resource. Any negative comments are obviously a smear campaign by paid activists that do not want women to have a true choice or anyone to even listen to them. First Step truly cares about women. Please take caution as you read through these reviews.This is a pro-life pregnancy center, which offers its services in a professional, caring manner. The people I know who work here love the Lord, and recognize Gods love for us, and because of that love, they are compelled to offer you help from a Biblical, Christian worldview. This pregnancy “resource” center is anything but. Its sole mission is anti-choice and to persuade those facing an unintended pregnancy to not terminate the pregnancy. It is not a medical facility and has no requirement to offer medically factual information or to protect the privacy of the health information of its clients, since it is not HIPAA-regulated. I will always advise women facing an unintended pregnancy to search for answers at a Planned Parenthood facility, which is an actual medical facility, and skilled at offering medically factual information and presenting the choices that American citizens have a legal right to hear about and access if chosen.

Ive been a doula for almost ten years and I have been training other women to become doulas for three years now. I work with people in all walks of life; rich, poor, single, married, those who have gone through stillbirth and miscarriage, those who are hit hard with postpartum depression. I have seen it all and worked with it all, and as a mother of a large family I have been through a lot of it myself. First Step provides Pregnancy Resources for families. What they do is literally in their name, providing Pregnancy Resources. And this is desperately needed in the community. Society is pro-choice until you make the choice to be a mother, then us women are tend to be left alone. First Step makes sure this does not happen. They offer free parenting and baby care classes. They are the only ones in the area who does this. Even the hospital charges for childbirth education and it is not comprehensive like the program First Step uses. The womens health centers in the area and beyond do not provide classes or resources when expecting a baby, just health care. Mothers need more than health care. They need love, support, and encouragement. You will get Love, Support, and Encouragement at First Step Pregnancy Resource Center. You will leave with a group of women who are mothers who understand what you are growing through supporting you. You will leave with knowledge and confidence on how to take care of your new baby. You will leave with the resources to cloth and diaper your baby to get a head start. You will have constant support even after you had your baby.I can say not just as an experienced doula but as mother who had dealt with severe postpartum depression and anxiety that these women here care and will help and support you. As a mother, not a professional, I have reached out to centers, doctors, and other professionals for help with the severe symptoms I have had to deal with. No one offered more help in all my children than the women at FIrst Step. The same goes when I had a stillborn child. I was left hanging from my medical providers. I was healthy and medically fine after I gave birth to a baby who had died so what more did I need? I needed support, I needed to grieve, I needed people around me who cared. I didnt have these opportunities at a health center or from medical providers. I could have had this opportunity had I found First Step then and not so much later in my life.You can recieve help, services, and support with First Step regardless of where you receive your medical care. You will never leave regretting that you have the knowledge and skills to care for yourself and your new baby. Whether you are having your first baby or your sixth baby, you will gain so much from the classes, support, and resources First Step Offers. You will never regret gaining knowledge in your life.

As a professional and certified Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Lactation Consultant I always suggest my clients attend First Steps classes and use them as a valuable resource. I am very impressed with this center, their knowledge and experience, and everything they offer the community and beyond.Wonderful and kind place. These people are very kind and care so much about people and the community. They offer many free prenatal and parenting classes which is absolutely wonderful because these classes privately are just so expensive and these classes are small, sometimes even one on one which is even better.The center also provides much needed items when you are having a baby such as clothes, diapers, cribs, wipes, etc. This is so helpful! Those are needed supplies to start our confident in your pregnancy and parenting.Im a little confused about one post that is concerned about HIPPA-kind of random since it is a resource center and not a hospital so what they should be concerned about is confidentiality, which this center is 100% confidential including when you receive phone calls from the center which is absolutely wonderful and makes me feel better to keep my privacy. HIPPA is Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act so it is unrelated.I have four living children, I had my first child when I was only 19. It was a hard time and I know First Step could have changed my whole life. I am glad to have found them now though! I attended Mable Wadsworth for pregnancy medical care for my first child and third child, while I have nothing negative about my medical care experience I was never offered birth or parenting classes and was never directed to someone who could help with with supplies or raising my baby. When you make a choice to have a baby you should never be shamed upon or forgotten about. First Step will never forget you, they will always support your choice to have your baby, and they will check in on you. After I had my fourth child I was a volunteer with First Step. When I was about three months postpartum I was hit with a very bad case of Postpartum Depression. The women at First Step were supportive and checked in on my many times during my battle with PPD. Their check ins and kindness definitely made me feel less ashamed about what I was going through with PPD and knowing they were there helped.

I am a proud supporter of this compassionate organization. I am a mother of 7 and have had the privilege of knowing many people at First Step. They go above and beyond to provide practical support and encouragement. The friends of mine that work there are some of the most genuine, caring people I know.

First step pregnancy center offers much needed help to pregnant women such as counseling, baby supplies, parenting classes, pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and more. They truly love, care, listen to and pray for each person who comes into their doors.

First Step is for women who are pregnant and wanting to know if there are other options besides abortion. Free ultrasound. Advice and practical guidance on how to care for your baby. They give diapers, clothes baby items and much more. Dont be scared to have your baby, no one regrets having their child.

This is a wonderful program that I have been a part of for years. I have witnessed many women learn and grow as parents from this resource. This is a voluntary program so if it’s not for you you have the choice to go elsewhere. Unless someone has personally had a bad experience here I would not pay any attention to the bad reviews. This is a fabulous choice for pregnant woman.

Dont be fooled - this place is only masquerading as a resource center. The reality is that theyre a religious organization who exploit vulnerability using misinformation to manipulate women for their political agenda. If you need confirmation of this, look at the wording under Considering abortion? on their front page: make an appointment to talk about your options. The emphasis is on alternatives and its put as a command - theyre not interested in pursuing that option. If you need further confirmation of this, look at the their other pages: they are not interested in giving out any information without an appointment. Thats by design: they want to bring you in, when youre at your most vulnerable.Also, look at all the positive reviews: most of them have generic profiles and happened recently. Thats not on accident. They are deliberately trying to buffer the effect of several negative reviews that have been happening recently on account of the severely negative experiences a couple of powerful individuals have had. Theyre very much aware of what theyre doing.

Despite recent outright lies that have been written in reviews, First Step offers women informed options when they are faced with unwanted pregnancies, they do not simply offer one option like abortion clinics do. If anything, First Step offers more choices than pro-choice abortion clinics do so that women can make informed decisions on their own, not under pressure to choose one option vs. another.

This center has, on numerous occasions, distributed completely inaccurate sexual and reproductive health information at my school. They use classic scare tactics to try to manipulate women into not having abortions (and not having sex in general). They call themselves a resource center, but only provide heavily biased opinions about how women should live their lives. Go somewhere else (like Mabel Wadsworth or Bangor Family Planning) for unbiased, accurate medical care and truly supportive staff.

Discuss your concerns and questions about pregnancy and adoption honestly with kind women who will listen. Explore your options and connect with resources to help you make an informed decision. The staff is wonderful; real women with knowledgeable advice. Services are offered freely and your privacy is given utmost respect.

Questions about confidentiality are very understandable, and I would suggest asking them directly about their confidentiality policies. They are not a medical office, and therefore HIPAA is not the governing mechanism for their confidentiality policies. So please don’t let that stop you from benefiting from their resources.First Step is a fabulous organization where every aspect of a woman’s wellbeing is considered and prioritized. Also, helping moms and dads be successful in parenting on an ongoing basis is a big piece of what they offer our community. This place is a treasure in the Bangor area.

What a fantastic organization! I always recommend FSPRC to women who find themselves pregnant and unprepared for what lies ahead. There is no more compassionate place in Bangor when youre unsure of what the future holds in regards to this new life youre are now bringing into the world. Places like Mabel Wadsworth are uncaring and cold. In their haste to not have to walk alongside a young woman in their time of uncertainty, they encourage the taking of life as the best and prefered option without regard to the toll it tales on women. FSPRC is not afraid to encourage and comfort while providing accurate information about your options surrounding childbirth.

First Step Pregnancy Resource Center is NOT, and I repeat, is NOT a safe place for women to go to for counseling, medical advice, etc. First Step is a crisis pregnancy center, meaning they hold a strong pro - life stance and fail to offer the proper, credible information surrounding abortions, contraception, STDs, and ones sexuality/sexual health as a whole. They are a fake health clinic. While I recognize and respect the ability to hold true to ones own moral/political values, First Step crosses the line by using scare tactics via distributing false information surrounding the dangers of having an abortion, using emergency contraception, having sex, (including protected sex), etc. as a way of influencing women to make decisions about their bodies based off of this manipulative form of counseling. I use quotations around the term counseling because the counselors on sight are not actually certified to do so. There are also no real medical professionals present at First Step, which should be of the utmost concern to you as they are giving out medical information despite this lack of professionalism/expertise. If you are seeking a place to go to that does, in fact, offer credible, reliable, non biased information surrounding ALL of your options when it comes to pregnancy and sexual health, do go to Mabel Wadsworths Center instead, where the staff is trained and licensed to provide all services for women regardless of any kind of political stance. First step is a community of caring individuals with a mission to inform women of their options. They offer free ultrasounds, and help and compassion to women in their time of need.

I used to volunteer here teaching a new dads class. They are are great resource for this area and provide free ultrasounds and information to anyone in need through all stages of being a new parent.

First step has been an amazing resource for years. They offer outstanding parenting classes. They have helped many families over the years. So thankful they are in our area.

This organization deliberately distributes false information. They told me Plan B was an abortion pill, they shame women for making choices, and they will NOT refer you to a real health clinic if you need help. Their staff is not medically trained and they admittedly do not have trained mental health professionals on staff. Their sole purpose is making women feel guilty.

I know this organization well. There are medical professionals on the board and they provide free ultrasounds and pregnancy tests. Confidentiality is practiced. I have personally seen clients treated with the utmost respect.

This agency and staff are unreal.They save women from killing their babies and experiencing a lifetime of turmoil.Fortunately they help women have a choice for life.Places like Fem-C have attacked this wonderful center so they can make money and throw away babies like trash!
